Why do YOU care what OTHER PEOPLE think of your knife?

What makes you think I care what others may think?
My EDC knives are a Buck 110 on my belt, a Buck 301 stockman and either a Buck, Case or Colt canoe, in my rf pocket, and an Ulster scout knife (or SAK "Recruit" or a Marbles scout/camp knife) in a cargo pocket or watch pocket.
My knives are all "sheeple" friendly, but that is not why I carry them. I carry them because I like them, they give me a good selection of blade profiles for different tasks, and they cut whatever I need to cut.
Sometimes I'll add a large Rough Rider sunfish to the day's EDC, next to the Buck 110.

In my long life I have learned not to let other influence my thinking. Had I listen to other who said I was nuts, had no chance, would starved to death. I would have never taken a chance and went for my dream career. I took the chance, survied the first year, and did ok for almost 25 years have the most fun job I could imagine.

If people want to tell you how to live your life, or what knife to buy extend your hand, and say the money for that please. Is easier just being your own person, and you will never make everone happy who you are.

I get your point but we're not talking about defying others advice to go after a dream job. We're talking about scaring the bajeebas out of the mom with two kids at the grocery store just to have on "man jewelry." And by that I mean carrying a knife just to have it on them with no actual need whatsoever.

I find it curious, the "I don't care at all!" answers. I mean it's untrue of course. I don't believe there are that many psychopaths on this site. ;) Everyone cares at least a little. The person that doesn't care at all is the type that shows up to court or a job interview with sweat pants on. At the least, "not caring at all" is dumb and goes against your best interests. :D

What about those of us that don't care, but conceal so as not to bother the sheeple, and only time they're seen is when they're being used for a knife appropriate task?

Of course, I really only conceal at work. Same with a handgun, at work it's concealed, outside, if it bothers someone, then I really don't care. If their feels get hurt, oh well, we never would get along any way. If they're interested, or ask about it, it's either a chance to make a new friend, or educate someone who really doesn't know. I ran into a coworker I've worked with the last 3 years at a store I rarely go to the other week, and I had a fixed blade and my handgun Open Carried. She doesn't know I carry a gun everyday, because it's concealed. Knife didn't surprise her because she knows I usually have it under my shirt at work. Sometime in the next week or two, I'm taking her to the range to try out some guns, because she's been interested in getting a gun for home defense, but gun stores can be off putting if you're not a gun guy.

She still doesn't know I CCW every day, and because I like my job, I don't disclose that.

I can't speak for others, but none of my knives are "man jewelry". And I don't just carry a knife for those times when I expect to need it, I also carry a knife for when a need arises unexpectedly. And I've experienced enough occasions in my life when I unexpectedly needed a knife to carry a knife whenever possible.

There's a huge difference between doing what one needs to do to make it through the day, or accomplish what one needs to accomplish, and caring what people think.

There are many occasions when I don't carry a fixed-blade. Not because I care what people think, but because either the law says I can't (like going into a courthouse, or visiting my kids school), or because there is some business I want to patronize and I know the owner/employees won't allow me in with my knife.

But if I met any courthouse workers, or staff members from my kids school, or any employees from any business I patronize on the street, I couldn't care less what they might think of my knife. In fact, I couldn't care less what they think of me.

I don't believe that anyone in this thread has said that people should ignore the law and carry knives into courthouses. Nor has anyone suggested that people should carry whatever knife they want at work or to a job interview. Simple intelligence dictates that one should not try to carry a knife where it is illegal to do so, nor should one jeopardize their job, or their chance at getting a job just to carry the knife they like.

There's a big difference between doing what you gotta do to stay out of jail, or earn a living, or accomplish any other goal or task that one wishes to accomplish, and actually caring what a bunch of total strangers think about ones knife, or ones self.

Exactly. Except that there is a need, to compensate.

What's interesting about the Internet is you get to hear what people really think and realize there are that many psychopaths.

Are you suggesting that people on this forum are carrying knives to "compensate" for something? Or were you speaking of your own need to "compensate"?

Are you suggesting that some members here are "psychopaths" simply because they think differently than you, or because they prefer to carry different knives than you?

It's unfortunate that knife owners face such ignorance and prejudice among non-knife people, but I find it especially unfortunate to encounter such ignorance and prejudice here on a knife forum.

I don't add people to my "ignore" list, but if that is your attitude towards other members here, then I'll make a special mental note to disregard anything you post in the future.

May i ask what you do for a living? Im tryna figure out what career path i would like to follow and something that wont bore me to death sounds good.

I don't think I posted in this thread before, but I got stopped while having a knife but not for having a knife.

I was walking home and cop cars go speeding by me, "Wonder where they are going?", I ask myself and then keep going in the same direction as the cops. After I walk past the bank (that is where the cops went) one cop car pulls over and asks if he can search me because I match a discription of an armed robber, the highly detailed description must have been, "Male". Anyway, I say sure and then tell him, "Two knives, right front pocket". The cop pulls the knives out (SAK and Endura I think at the time), looks at them, then puts them back into my pocket. Only when he searches my backpack does he ask me to put my hands on the hood all while he knows I have the two knives in my pocket ;)

PS: I have seen people openly carry fixed blade Grohmann knives on the belt; recently saw a man in a mall with a Gerber Guardian on his belt which is a dagger, and he was not bothered by security (he also had a knife T-shirt lol; must have been one of you guys lol)
