Why do you like knives?

A knife is a tool, my most used tool in fact. So I am always in the hunt for that "perfect" tool.
 
Knives are useful tools that help a person be self-reliant and independent. They allow a person to have some control of the environment and to be prepared for small emergencies that arise in daily life. That is why I carry a knife daily.

I also like knives because I enjoy the historical connections, the craftsmanship and the technology of knives. The knife forum allows me to learn about these aspects of knives, so I will appreciate them more and use them carefully. :cool:
 
A knife is an object of beauty that becomes a natural extension of one's body.
 
Because they are pretty, and they are sharp.

I like things that are pretty and sharp... like my wife :D

And usefull too. Almost forgot that one
 
For me it's like an ancestral need... Since when I was a child I've always been attracted by knives, and used to draw any hero or char with their own knife... :D Also had some cool wooden knives made by my dad
 
I'm not really sure how to answer that. I have liked knives since my first Hardware store Barlow some 45 years ago when I was a youngster.:)
 
Honestly, it's man jewelry for me. Same reason I have the watch, smartphone, brass collar stays and cufflinks that I own. I like how I look and feel, and the image I project carrying one. I think the fancy term is that my knives are an "affectation".

pretty much. my life wouldn't change one bit if i stopped carrying a knife. :p
 
I like knifes because carrying them is the intended use. Unlike all my other hobbies, guitar I have to play, wood tools I have to use, fishing poles I need to fish and guns I should shoot or hunt with them. But Knifes I can just carry and say I like this knife, look it opens and closes...open close, and by that it has fulfilled my purpose for it. No guilt.
 
Sometimes we need a tool, and it nice to enjoy the craftsmanship you spend hard earned cash on!!
 
I don't like knives!!! They control me and I have no defense against their relentless barrage of BUY ME!
 
I like knives because I like how creatively engineered they can be, and they are just about the perfect size to both appreciate the craftsmanship/engineering and also actually carry around. If you carried around a little gadget made of titanium and carbon fiber that didn't actually DO anthing, it would be harder to justify the money spent, but knives actually serve a purpose on top of being fun to play with.
