Why do you like traditional knives?

Funny...He was PITA... but the folks here managed to turn his mockery into a couple really good threads.

I recall many years ago, as I was a youngster, my grandfather used to say: "If you can't be told - you got to learn the hard way" ;):o

Outstanding!!

And actually, a knife gets very prominent mention in the book, "Shane" from which the movie was made. In the book, the story is told in a first person looking back kind of narrative by the boy Joey. In one passage, he talks about how he and Shane took the wagon into town, and Shane bought him a new jackknife at the store. A "dandy one, with two blades!" as he put it.

I guess even a young sodbusters son needed a dandy jackknife with two blades.!:D

I'll have to see if I can get hold of a copy of the book Carl, unlike my bow-legged grandfather, I never read it ;) :D

Thanks to our great moderators. Good work!

This subforum is way too great than to disturb the polite and friendly mood here in this place. Respectfully, without wrath and mockery - one of the reasons I return here every single day, when possible.

Thanks to all these turned into some great threads. I admit I kinda found it all interesting. Now back to normal for us peanut-worshipping case-obsessed geezer pedants.

I like traditional style knives because they are made as if the owner knows how to use and care for a knife properly, while the tactical kind, in design, often presume that the user will do a lot of dumb things with it, almost invite it. :) I'm talking about pocket knives here.

I thought that pendants were something you hung around your neck?

:D

Pedant. You're throwing in an extra "n."

1 obsolete : a male schoolteacher
2 a : one who makes a show of knowledge
b : one who is unimaginative or who unduly emphasizes minutiae in the presentation or use of knowledge
c : a formalist or precisionist in teaching

That's what the little fella called our esteemed mod. I figured we could share the title :)

Some of my non Case made old knives.

I see our new young friend has been shown the door. :o

I thought I might show the youngster (I imagine that he might be watching from his television, since he can't be here in person now) that Case is not even close to being the king of Blade Forums posts.

Why do I like traditional knives? I just always have. Why does one like apple pie ? ;)
