Why do you like traditional knives?

Primble, you either have the some of the prettiest knives, or some of the the best photographic skills, or both, I have ever seen. Love those pics!

Beautiful photos. I especially appreciate the old Schrades. They really had something special for a while there. They knew their art, and it is one of the great travesties of the knife world that they are no longer.

Thank you for the comments guys and yes - I agree with you Cory - Schrade did have something special.:thumbup::D

** NEWS FLASH ! *** I wanted to add that jc57 (John) contacted me the other day and wanted to add a special surprise to my Case knife gift that I am sending to afishhunter. ;)

I won't reveal what it is, as I suggested that he keep it a secret, to surprise afishhunter completely. ;)

What I will say is that it is a VERY SPECIAL gift that John is sending. Now that the cat/or boat ;):D is partially out of the bag, (Imagine me doing something like that :D) I just wanted to recognize John for his most generous addition to what will surely be an awesome gift to one of our members here.

Great going John !!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D

FWIW, Afishhunter seems like a standup guy to me. He's a long haul truck driver by trade. I work in the logistics division of a big company and those guys are our heroes. They deliver what we sell and are part of the engine of American commerce. I've got more knives than I need and he's the kind of guy that will use one. So one of mine is on the way to him come Monday morning. Boxed up and ready to ship.

This thread was started by a young man who I hope will eventually learn a few life lessons. There are plenty of folks here who have already learned those lessons and are living them. My hat is off to the hard-working men and women everywhere who get out there and do the hard jobs that make us all successful. So if I can help a brother out with something as simple as the gift of a pocket knife, then I'm all over that. I'd prefer not to draw any attention to myself, I'm just a typical selfish schmuck. It took Primble's example to get me to step up, so any praise should go to him.

Thanks, Primble, for reminding EVERYONE what being a good man is all about.

And to keep it on topic - That's another reason I like traditional knives. They attract people with traditional VALUES and we can use a bit more of that these days.

I like your style, John. ^^^That's a great post with several excellent points for me to think about more often than I typically do!:thumbup:

I carry a traditional because they carry easy, do not intimidate anyone & they do anything I need to do with a knife.
The best reason.
When you buy a blister pack of utility knives you can't open the blister pack to use your shinny new utility knife, with out a knife.

Careful what you ask for around these parts. ;):)

Well, I finally made it home.

"One of mine is on the way ..." JC57 is so humble, making out like no big deal, nothing special ...
The knife he gifted me is something special, at least to me. A Case 00263 Canoe (one of my favorite patterns) with CV blades.
The generosity in this forum is, to say the least, amazing.
Thank you. This is a fantastic canoe. I'm almost afraid to carry it, it is so nice. However, I have a leather slip that came with my Opinel #8, I can modify it to fit the canoe. It is a knife just begging not to be a safe King. :)

Thanks for giving us a homecoming update, Steve, and congrats on your fantastic new knives!!:thumbup: You need to hire a publicist so we can see some pictures!!:D

Kudos to Primble and John for their generosity, and for helping to turn this lemon of a thread into lemonade!!:cool:
