Why do YOU need a bk11? Contest. Winner announced

I need a BK11 because I don't have any Beckers yet and can always use a knife with a bottle opener.

I need a BK11 because my family has been kidnapped by ninjas and I must seek vengance! Money for kung-fu lessons would be #2 on my list.

I have a case of beer that needs opening, a toolbox to turn into a beer holder, and its free.

The year is 2312. A charismatic but tyrannous leader has risen to power in the New People's Republic of China. America's economy has collapsed, its military has crumbled, leaving the country vulnerable.. The United States, along with a few resilient albeit weaker allies are the last free political bodies left, and are failing fast. Only small bands of rebels and the loosely maintained "Militia Americana" have kept our homeland from becoming the property of the empire that has already claimed the rest of the globe. This resistance is inevitably doomed, but forfeiture is not a concept they are familiar with. Staring defeat in the face, they mount an all out retroactive offensive. Funds may be scarce, and the resistance that of backwoods style, but in this day and age leaps and bounds have been made in the ways of espionage and unorthodox tactics. Within the Militia Americana, a team of patriots has been formed. Their mission: To save what's left of the free world and stop the empire from consuming the world for its own. They are the last hope.

There is a glimmer of good news on the horizon. After a few interrogations and 14 weeks of eavesdropping, they finally have a lead. The enemy, Wong Zhongyu, is searching for something, and has been doing something for some time. An artifact, a primitive cutting tool. The last one was said to have been destroyed following the Great Disarming of the Public in 2024. There were some who hid what they had, but one by one they were lost, destroyed, or were claimed by steady decay. The technical term for these was "Becker Knife and Tool; Becker Necker", according to archives. The common populace simply referred to them as "BK11's". No evidence can be found implying they still exist, but Wong Zhongyu covets all that is not his. It's even been said that he would give up his reign to be the only man on earth to possess one...

The Militia Americana's goal is to overcome the obstacle of this enemy and rebuild the United States from within. This is their chance. Quite simply, they need to travel back to a time before the Great Disarming, retrieve one, return to the homeland, and begin negotiations of peace with a "BK11" as their bargaining chip.

The leader of the Militia's research team has found another winfall in America's favor. A community of men known as the "Bladeforums" tribe, loosely translated to "Men with Beards and Beer who like Blades", were the authority on cutting tools in their time. They manufactured, sold, critiqued, maintained, and controlled the highest echelons of the cutting tool industry, reigning high over the rest of the consumer base and ever advancing the science in which they were expert. They were once revered as gods of their craft, but as of the Great Disarming of the Public, were seen as outlaws, driven into the underground, individually sought out and "disposed" of. This society had a ritual they would partake in from time to time. A member would hold a cutting tool over the heads of the other members, dangling it like food over wild dogs, promising to reward the last man standing with it as payment for a job well done. The Militia has one shot and one shot only. With their limited resources, they have the ability to provide one round trip from and back to their time. If anything were to go wrong, this will spell the end for what free people remain on earth.

After much deliberation, it is decided. A lone agent of the Militia will be entrusted to seek out and return with a BK11. He is only know by his codename, williamsld8, and by his undying devotion to the task at hand. The details have already been set. He is to be sent to the year 2011, in the month of October, to find a tribe member by the name of clich, surname unknown, and arrange for the exchange of a BK11, the payment being the shear satisfaction of knowing, he is not only saving America, but all of the oppressed peoples of the world. williamsld8 needs this cutting tool, not for himself, but for the fate of the United States, as well as the citizens of the world over. His team wishes him luck, and sends him off. Now only time will tell.

I need another BK-11 so the odds will be fair!

I put "chia" paste and miracle grow on my BK-13 (my only Becker). I thought for sure it would sprout into a bigger, more useful BK-11.... But at days end it is still puny and awesome, I am looking to upgrade to adequate and awesome.

Thanks for the chance!

I'm wanting to do some in depth, as objective as possible review videos of each of the beckers, as I personally feel that the world is lacking in such videos, especially for the beckers. A loaded BK11 like you are giving would really allow me to show off all of the pros and cons (and pros) of the knife. I would likely use it for the first in the series, test and display the hell out of it, and hopefully convert a few folks.

This is why I need a BK11.

I need one, simply because I don't own one, nor have I ever handled one, or even seen one in person. Same thing for the BK14.

Also, I've never touched micarta, or seen it in person. I'd love to hear what all of the excitement is about in that regard.

My current collection of knives consists of more Gerbers (*gasp*) than both Beckers (1) and KaBars (2) combined, which has to be illegal somewhere.

There is a big hole in my lineup right now. I have no small fixed blade to take camping. I have a mora, but my wife uses that. Then I have a BK2 (5.5in blade), and a ZK War sword (9 3/4in blade)... that just about rounds out my fixed blades. I would also review it, because for some reason, I really like that kind of thing.

As you can see, a Necker would fit right in, and would get lots of work doing things like:

Cutting cheese, cutting potatoes, stabbing packages, getting played with around the camp fire, whittling, making PB&J sandwiches, spreading butter, competing in things like septembers contest (it required a BK11 or 14, so I couldn't compete), Batoning through stale bread, striking a firesteel thus endangering anyone nearby, wearing under my dress shirt at work, practicing sharpening, cutting my fingers (accidentally), practice paracord wrapping, cutting meat (FAVORITE!!), cutting veggies (less favorite), and finally... figuring out what a TEC lok is.

*And also, in my first thread here, you mentioned you'd gift me something if I managed to stick around and get my BH number...

And finally... mostly because I'm way cool.

Thanks for the chance clich... this is way cool of you to do. I think because of this thread, I'll be gifting my buddy a BK11 for his birthday, then telling him he has to come check out your thread. Hopefully the BK11 will act as a gateway knife for him :).

*(seriously, not worried about that, but I thought it would be funny to bring it up:D)

Thanks for the chance.

I need a BK11 for a few reason,

1. I want a Becker
1.2 My dream of being a Beckerhead will come true
2. I have never owned a Becker
3. I will re-name my duck "Becker BK11"

4. With a Becker I could have stopped this monstrosity instead of giving it two thumbs up (if you can't beat them join them)

5. If I had a Becker my chicken throwing skills would improve

6. This would have been way better if the bottle of whiskey was full...

I need one because it would be a great knife to throw in my backpack as the "everyday survival knife."
Small enough to not get me "disapeared" by security forces if it was seen in use, but sturdy enough to be useful in a variety of situations.

Also, it looks really damn cool.:)

Ergonomic, useful size, and chock-full of Ka-Bar goodness...what's not to like?

(And if the damn alley rats get organized, it might save my life, right? Intelligent, super-organized alley rats are a reasonable concern, eh?)

And I'm in Canada, so it would make a fine tool for keeping rabid seals from coming aboot the igloo.;)

This is a very nice gesture man. I,ve actually been eyeing an 11 for the last couple days to pair with my newly aquired 7. I'm still new to the Becker family and adore my Izula so I havnt pulled the trigger on one yet.

Eww... your hand changed the color of the scales on yours...

Either that, or they were different colors in the first place. Me... I'm sticking with the first theory.

Thanks again for the giveaway, this is a great chance for all :).
