Why do YOU need a bk11? Contest. Winner announced

I need a bk 11 because my girlfriend needs a knife for college and there is a blade length restriction and its just above the length of the bk 11. she wants a knife that can handle anything she could ever imagine throwing at it.

OK, I'll admit it: I was ignorant of Becker knives. I see people mention them here on BF but never checked them out. I know, I know. Now that I've seen this one, I have to admit it: I need a BK11. Just put it on my Amazon wish list -- in case I don't win the contest. LOL. Great pix BTW. (Cross-posted to the contest thread -- wasn't sure which one you wanted us to post on.)

I need one because I'm a Becker virgin, yep I'm totally Beckerless and feel like a gooseberry everytime I visit this forum !!!:o

With a BK11 I can join in over here without embarrassment and post some pics of my travels with the new little blade !

Thanks for the chance buddy.:)

Well, I'm starting to see the light and having lustful dreams about Becker knives. I've been a Benchmade fan for ages, but am now drawn to the more practical and utilitarian nature of Becker knives. There's been a gut-wrenching debate going on in my head over whether the first Becker will be a BK-11 or BK-2 and all I can conclude is that I'll end up with both if I can somehow justify it to my wife! I need this, so I can put the BK-11 in my wife's hand and get some photos of my first Becker being used by my favorite person!

I need a BK11 because I don't have any Becker knives and I would like to try one out, plus I have never had a knife with micarta or a kydex sheath.

I also would like to compare it with my EDC fixedblade the Condor Mini Bushlore.

Hope you choose me!

I'm honestly very surprised to see this contest not end up longer than it has so far. I thought it would easily end up being 10 pages long or more. I mean it's not like the give away is a lanyard set or a sheath, it's a knife ( and apparently a fantastic one at that ) with brand new scales and belt sheath clip. At the time of this post, to be only three pages long, I'm a little bewildered.

Agreed. Especially since he had the other thread where he put it through its paces. As someone who entered, I don't personally mind the relative lack of entrants though...:D.

I think part of it is that many of the people that frequent this subforum already own one, and are gracious enough to let those of us without be the ones that enter this contest.

That's it in a nutshell for me. I already have one. I feel like this should go to someone who doesn't already have one.

We have a winner. POKESALAD. My buddy isn't a BF member but he knows his knives (just not an internet forum type of guy) and while he got a kick out of all the entries, he said that you needed it the most to get your knife collection on the right path. Congrats man, email me your address.

Side note: ocnlogan I did promise you something and I'm sorry I forgot. Email me your addy as well.

WOOHOO! Man I really appreciate the chance! I don't win anything ...ever. I will do you proud and will pay it forward one day, that i promise. Thanks so much!

NNNNOOOOOO!!! The free people of the world are now doomed! Who wants to break the news to them? :(

Congratulations man. I was really hoping to come out on top in this, but I can see you needed it just as much as the next non-Becker owner. Cheers to ya. But I'll get you next time BK-11. Just you wait.

Congrats Pokesalad. I was gonna enter this, but I kept forgetting to. Oh well, I'll order one for myself pretty soon now.

Thanks all. Clich is def the man! I will post up pics when it gets here. I plan to put it to good use almost immediately.

I know its too late but i'm going to give it a whorl anyway:
Why I need a Becker BK11:
1) Its the only fixed blade that I could take with me to college which states:

"Students living in north campus and Skyhalls residence halls are permitted to possess knives in their residential space for the purpose of food consumption; the blade length may not exceed four inches. Students living in the University’s South Campus apartment complex are permitted kitchen knives and utensils intended for the purpose of food preparation; blade length restrictions do not apply.

Pocketknives with blade lengths not exceeding four inches are also permitted."

Meaning that it a fixed blade knife has to be:
under four inches in length
not scare my roommate
and look like a knife i use in the kitchen while being able to save my life in a pinch

With a knife that's 1/8' thick, it is sturdy enough to handle all apartment style survival situations (cutting up carpet, making tinder, light batoning, etc.) while also being useful in food prep (I'd tell them that it is a "parrying" knife). Also having a bottle opener at the end will be nice so i can open bottles up for my friends (I don't drink but I'm often go out as the designated sober person so my friends don't get mugged or whatever) and I can point out that feature to help prove that its for "food consumption and/or preparation." Lastly, it'll be the only knife i have that i'd feel comfortable getting lost with (other knives are all SAKs and the ones that are not do not have strong blades) .

WOW i need to get a job to start saving up, I know its too late and really hate midterms for making me miss this thread this past week :grumpy:
