My son fell asleep on the recliner watching TV tonight, and he just woke up a little bit ago and started walking into the kitchen, i asked him if he was thirsty but he didnt answer, he went to the fridge, i heard it open so i got up to check on him.. he opened it.. Then dropped his pants around his ankles and was about to pull down his underwear and piss all in the fridge before i stopped him HAHAHA

When i stopped him he was confused as could be and didnt know why he was in the kitchen. I was cracking up.... Had i not been awake to see and stop it however... it would of made an interesting conversation in the morning.

bahahahah, this is why we have kids. For the endless amusement they bring us! None of mine have tried to pee in the fridge... but the boy will whip it out at any time in a park and find a spot lol.

Lol James, figures eh? If you bought a women a golden shower, she wouldn't complain. But if you GIVE a woman a "golden shower"... well (if its unexpected).... I believe she has the right to be pissed off. haha.

BBQ chicken and beef ribs all marinating and getting ready for the grill this afternoon. See, the NFL is good for something! I get to grill and eat great food and my only reason is, "because the game is on."

Definitely looking slow here.

Has anyone had any experience with a UST 15 day flashlight? They are usually around $25-30, but a deals website I check out has them for $12. 2 d batteries, 200 lumens, and 10 hours run time. Doesn't sound too bad for a flashlight to throw in the glove boxes.

Errr....yes? That's what I'm trying to figure out. It fits, just not sure of the whole execution thingy. Or if it's possible with my skill set.

Does the handle shape you've drawn fit inside the original steel, or just the tang?
That tang looks too big for the handle if you're going to do a hidden-tang setup.

one or two retaining pins would be sufficient if so. Looks like a hidden tang project if you're married to the idea of top and bottom guardlets.

That's a glorious shape. Imagine it with a FFG. :D

After some searching, I've tracked down a few pet friendly housing options near Blade. I'll be booking my room tomorrow. Looks like another road trip with Oz. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Yea me and the wife had a good laugh about it this morning LOL....

James I blame the rock and roll as well HAHA

Mike, loving the idea about using the axe handle. Me and Dan K. Talked about this 5 or 6 months ago. I drew up a 2 handed chopper and Dan was telling me to try and get the handle to be shaped more like an axe handle and allow 2 handed holds. I liked the idea a lot!!

That's a glorious shape. Imagine it with a FFG. :D

Hmmm.... Unless the BK4's stock was thicker i wouldnt want the BK4 to be FFG. Needs the weight it has, a little more blade weight wouldnt hurt either IMO. More forward weight, more momentum and force... Deeper bites..... More AXE, less MACHETE.

Really we just need a becker knife thats .27-.32" thick with a 9-12" blade, FFG or very high saber depending on blade width, ground with a 5-6° per side bevel down to nearly nothing... Perfection.

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to get a slotted double guard on there, yes. The hidden tang that I've drawn leaves steel around all the cutouts on the original handle but should allow me to slide the guard on. I think the handle will be two (actually three) pieces, one routed so that all the cutouts are filled with wood and epoxy. The other half of the handle would be flat, epoxied to the steel and the other slab. I am thinking about using the katalox with a contrasting wood that would look like "full tang" (thus the three piece handle layup) and hiding the pins internally through existing bolt holes. Another idea I just had, wanting to put some sort of cap on the butt that would provide for lanyard attachment, is to keyhole the original lanyard hole and trap a bolt in there to give it some integrity to the blade. I've got some more drawing to do; it's how I figure stuff out, and how I see what might work and what probably won't. Most of the rest of this Imma post in the knifemaking thread.

I think Dubz did a rendering of a Brute 2.0, did away with the swedge and the recurve and made it FFG. Looked real good.

That would be neat. The added blade weight would be a plus for me!!

Wasnt the Camillus and the Blackjack BK4 thicker? If im remembering right anyways.

I love the BK4, even as is its my favorite Becker... But i like choppers more than machetes and brush clearers.... So a thicker/heavier BK4 would be a good thing IMO. There is a reason places like HI make Kuks THICK. There is a reason comp cutters are thick and heavy too... If a thinner/lighter knife could perform the same every competitor would be running around with 3/16" thick comp cutters.

Yes, but there's also a reason the blade you pack around in the woods for the weekend, isn't that heavy... or why folks look for excuses not to carry an axe.

Chopping for chips is one thing, but swinging for cleanup is another. I prefer doing the latter with a knife, not the former. Good news is we'll get lots of variations to play with! :D

I'll just say...
It's not a true Snark thread until Phil Donahue is mentioned thrice.
Mission complete.

I think most of the Cam Beckers were thicker. Handled a Cam BK9, I think they're .21". The extra weight felt nice but I'm told by those with experience that the Ka-bar version actually chops better.

If the BK4 was .25" thick, I probably would have considered getting one. But since they're so close in performance I'll just stick with the BK9.

Yes there is a reason.... We are all LAZY these days :D

I normally go shopping for chips, not chopping for chips :p

I chop wood for fires..... But i chop wood for fun even more. I have no problems sticking a 12 foot log in the fire and pushing it in further as it burns.... But i love using a knife and chopping wood. For some reason when i use an axe it feels like work, but when i use a knife i enjoy it. The better the knife performs the more i enjoy it. When i get tired i can stop... As its not a life or death situation to have perfect 2 foot logs for the fire. Now if i was actually in a survival situation i wouldnt want my only knife to be a big heavy monster, but for recreational chopping they are the most fun for me!!

Come on now....this is US we are talking about. In a survival situation, all of us would have more then one knife :P I'd have around 12 lol

Im no expert thats for sure, but id love to compare both side by side and throw some calipers on them at different spots. I'm thinking if you thinned the edge on the Cam it would perform better... If both knives have the same exact grind and geometry from spine to edge, then the thicker knife would have a thicker edge/more steel behind the edge, and not bite/penetrate as well with the same amount of force used. It would likely baton better, but not chop as well. If you took both knives down to the same exact thickness at the edge and right behind it, im betting the one with the thicker spine would out chop the other.... Again im no expert on this, just thinking out loud.

My precious BK11 has been gone for way too long. But ill be bringing her home soon!!

Lee has been taking good care of her for a while now, but he has finally agreed to sell it back to me. Beckerheads are great people.

Yep... I miss her. Put a lot of thought and planning into that one, and it was the first becker i ever bought, and the first one i ever modded, and the first one i ever had customized. Glad to be bringing her home.

Granted, im not the fan of jimping i once was... But i still love how this one turned out.

Amanda and I just got home from a basic handgun safety course. Turns out my girl can shoot! She was nervous and had never shot a handgun before. She outshot most of the men!

I am so proud right now.

WW, do you want to see pictures of a Kabar and a Camillus Machax side by side? I can take a few for ya!

Jeremy
