so many people hate gerber and I dont know why. I have owned many gerber knives all of them were under $30 dollars and some of the best knives I've ever owned. I've replaced my ontario sp15 lsa with a 1 dollar gerber profile and its infinitely better than the ontario, and costs 40 dollars less.

Umm...do a search. It seems like there's a "why don't people like Gerber" thread posted once every week. You'll find plenty of discussion/answers in those.

I think most people think of Gerber as the cheap walmart/supermarket knives that you buy in a plastic package. My friend has a Gerber folder from walmart and I can tell you it's quite crappy.

gerbers are NOT crappy knives in any way. they are sharp out of the box and edge better than most other knives. and you can abuse them. I use my profile for splitting wood, chopping, use it as a hammer, use it as a chisle and have gotten a good 4 years of use out of it after getting used from someone who used it for as much stuff as me, and its still kickin.

Why did you make this thread 30 mins AFTER you posted in the other 5-page "Why does everyone hate Gerber" thread?? Theres already a current discussion going on over there...

I anyone who would do a search on this topic will see, gerber's production quality is not necessarily the prime complaint.

i started this one cause y' all need to know gerbers are great and extremely under-rated knives

In this topic: someone gets butthurt because other people don't like Gerber knives.

Moving right along...

This guy has to be a troll.... if not, he can think Gerbers are awesome knives if he wants, it doesn't matter to me. Whatever makes you happy dude!

Then why pretend, in the title of the thread, that you were asking a question or open to opinions that don't coincide with your own?

Starting a thread purely for the sake of arguing with people/stirring things up pretty much qualifies you as a troll. Congratulations.

I have a suggestion: instead of trying to browbeat people into liking Gerber as a brand, why not suggest a couple of models that you have used, describe the steel, the ergonomics and anything else that you think makes them underrated and invite people to respond?

You may find that some people agree with you, and some will disagree because their experiences with those knives differed. And you'll still probably hear about the general drop in Gerber quality since they were taken over. But at least you will have supported your position and maybe educated some people.

I like Gerbers USA-made stuff. But this thread is ridicilous...unsubscribing now. Later all.

I really don't like Gerber knives at all. Even tho I only carry traditional knives, I can sometimes apreciate modern knives, and let me tell you, Gerber knives are almost always for non-knife people who don't know any better. If you are broke, or just want a beater knife, they're alright. But even if you are low on cash, there's better stuff out there. Also, it isn't neccesary for everyone to go over this VERY same topic. Use the search function!

Because people like to ask the question "Why doesnt anybody like gerber?"

The question should be "Why do people post so many ridiculous and redundant threads about Gerber being crap"
