Why doesn't anyone carry a knife?

Not everyone should carry a knife.
Some people are clumsy oafs that'll cut their fingers off, and some are irresponsible idiots...that'll probably cut your fingers off.

And it has nothing to do with no dads, two dads, or two moms.
The REAL explanation of why less people carry is this: perforations/snack-packs/office jobs.

+1 to that!

I converted a person last week to carrying a knife and it feels awesome every time I see him he is using it for something. :D I gave him a kershaw tanto groove the knife that got me really hooked on the knife bug and he says "man it's so much easier carrying a knife everyday, I don't see how I've gone this long with out one!"

I work in Silicon Valley and I usually EDC some kind of knife, usually a mini-Griptilian.
Never had anybody complain about it.
I used to bring in an Edgepro Apex on the weekends and sharpen the knives in the break room occasionally.
I've only seen one coworker EDC a knife, and that was a SAK Tinker I think.

any problems with the axis lock on your mini grip?

Man, you are persistent with this question. I also am wary of the axis lock. As long as the omega spring holds it is an overly strong lock, but I'm sure it's more likely to snap than the spring in a back lock. That said, I have only actually owned one axis knife (benchmades designs/ergos don't work well for me) but the spring never broke and I flipped it A LOT. It did get a little play quicker than expected, but that's easy to fix (side to side).

At my grocery store today, the hair of a Barbie doll or something like it got stuck in the wheel of my father's shopping cart. An employee noticed this and got down on his knees to undo it for us. For what seemed like forever he toiled with the doll, trying to release it's dreadful locks from our cart. I asked him if he would let me cut it off but he only seemed to ignore me. After a while he gave up and allowed me to use my Spyderco Gayle Bradley to accomplish his five minute attempt in only five seconds. He looked at me as if I were crazy.

"You carry one of those?" He asked.

I simply told him that every man should carry a tool like a pocket knife, and that there wasn't anything illegal about it. Another testament as to why we knife nuts aren't insane. Maybe.

guess i'm still trying to convince myself to buy the mini grip or regular grip, but can't get passed those omega springs.

I've owned (and carried) axis lock knives for nearly the last three years. My 940 is my most heavily used, and it is just as solid as the day I bought it.

The springs aren't weak. For every broken spring, I'd imagine hundreds of non-broken users.

Back on topic - I think most people don't carry knives for many of the same reasons people have already stated. Our culture has gotten itself away from this practice.

I agree with this- 90% of things in everyday life that you used to need a knife for are made to be so convenient these days that a knife is rarely needed. The only thing that still is impenetrable without a knife are those infernal thick plastic clamshell packages  but a vic classic or a peanut will get you through them.
Then there are people like us, who prefer to be prepared for the other 10% of things life throws at you. Or we just have a passionate hatred for clamshell packaging and like to show them who is boss.

Most people have a utility knife somewhere; they just don't carry it with them everywhere. We've build a world of convenience that does not require a cutting that often. A knife cuts rope great, but when was the last time someone chose rope or string over duct tape? How many people know how to tie a proper knot these days? Scotch tape has a built in cutter, toilet paper is pre-cut, food is pre-sliced, pre-made. If you are willing to spend a few cent more, you hardly have to lift a finger any more. Like everyone on this forum, I like to carry a knife, but I almost have to go out of my way to find a use for in in the urban environment. It'd be different if I worked on a farm, but most folks don't these days.
Exactly I always want to use my knife for something but there is really nothing to cut in a urban environment. It makes me paranoid.
