Why doesn't Buck offer something like this?

Forget the AXIS lock, why can't the classic Folding Hunter profile, lockback, and blade shape be translated by Buck into a modern reversible clip carry one hander by the company that made this type of knife the most knocked off locking knife ever seen?

It's rather a disappointment that Benchmade makes one with H-D crap touches all over it.

But if they sterilized all of that wannabe styling off of it, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I'd just rather Buck did one. In S30V.

buck has alterations of tactical look knives
some in s30v
but if you change the look would you still have a 110?
is a 560 close ? all metal handle ect..

I'm not looking for "tactical." I am wishing for more practical.

It'd no longer be a 110. Maybe it'd have to be called the "2010," but it is an easier carry to have a knife pocketed on a clip and openable with thumb studs that to belt carry it and have opening be a two handed proposition.

I look at it this way: Once upon a long time ago, folks used to grind finger grooves into standard 110s.

Then Buck started doing so at the factory.

Is the 110FG any less of a Buck? No.

Neither would be any interpretation of the 110 by Buck that incorporated the carrying and opening methods preferred by far in this century.

"opening methods preferred by far in this century."

I'm not sure that "preferred by far" is intirely accurate. I for one don't like or use that carrying method and don't want thumb studs on my knives.

I can't think of a more practical knife than the 110 folding hunter. It is easy to carry in a case or pocket, and is easy to one hand open for me anyways.Sometimes the clasic is untouchable,in this case the 110 is just that.I would like to see other models li,ke you showed a pic of,but not a 110 ,a complete totally new knife!

I am pretty sure that with the overwhelming presence of clip knives with some sort of one handed opening ability, I am on safe ground when I say that such styles have pretty much swept the market, meaning that such are preferred by most buyers.

One just does not see many belt carried folding knives anymore. The two styles I own which aren't multitools are both Buck however.

Nevertheless, none of my 110s nor my folding Kalinga Pro get much carry time compared to my Spyderco Endura or Pacific Salt EDCs, neither of which are "tactical," but tremendously easier to carry and deploy.

My favorite cutter is my Custom 110FG with BG-42 blade, nickel bolsters and jigged buffalo horn. I love the blade profile, the lack of blade height dragging through a cut, the lockback, the feel in the hand. I just wish I had a similar knife in a pocket clipped workhorse version.

I guess that "lock back workhorse" is my Spyderco, but a Buck 110 inspired one made in Idaho would be a much cooler and stylish option.

Maybe I'll buy the Benchmade and give it a "skullectomy."

The closest buck would have to that benchmade might be a 186 or 560 ,check them out, kind of on the right track.

One idea would be a clip point blade option for the Vantage Pro. I carry it now as my EDC in rotation with my Mayo TNT. Perhaps that would satisfy those that like the 110 blade but want single handed operation.

I don't care for pocket clips. They don't feel right while using it in your hand.Hence,I don't own one.Thumb studs I like.Knives in my pockets I don't care for as well. A knife in a sheath I like even a folder. My 110's open using my thumb.I like it the way it is.Buck made other models close to what you describe.DM

how come nobody said the waimea, similar blade profile and titanium handles. I'd go with a waimea any day over that benchmade.

Boats,

You can buy a 110 and send it to be customized. Have it slimmed down and a pocket clip and stud added...it will cost about the same as the BM. But, you will have just what you want!

How about Buck order 110 kits in Titanium instead of NS or Brass!!
Maybe a little thinner and add the clip and the thumb stud.
Instant success in a LE.
Hell Dave and Dave would both buy serveral apiece!! :)

btw, there is something appealing about that BM's clippoint.

I think knifemakers should include a T6 driver that will remove the clipscrews and clip without stripping. Also, they should include a small zipper bag with shorter replacement screws to fill the holes - and the bag could hold the clip and longer screws in case some future owner wanted them. I have a communal bag of mixed clips and screws - mostly Kershaw, whose little keychain driver kit has a stout T6 driver. Hmmm, maybe some 'clip' art contests? A trade-in credit for clips?

Seriously, thumb stud and a clip on a 110? Is nothing sacred? What would you call it... the 2010 sounds good... the 'Nancy-boy' sounds appropriate. Okay, I'll go take my meds... wait, the Bravo slurped - how about 'Charley'?

I need my rest - g'nite!

...That picture sure isn't a 110...not even close...nor will that Benchmade ever replace the 110. But like Flat said..."There's something appealing..." about that Benchmade...very appealing. Thanks for the picture Boats...:)

the new buck lite has a thumb-stud and a pocket clip
in drop point no less ..a nice edc and user

that long clip on that blade ... you all like...?
humm
leroy does a long clip mod on 110's like that..
it is sweet and gathers comments were ever the owners pull them out..
no i do not have one yet...
but will one day ...

Any leads on who might do such work? Thanks.

Not looking for a 110 replacement. I am looking for a replacement for a Spyderco.

I want a "110-ish" Buck pocket folder that stays where I put it, has a one handed opening method, and has the clip point and grind of the classic folding hunter.

That BM is close, but no cigar.;)

If I had a 110 blade in a 179 HI-LO, I would be a happy camper.

A 112 blade in a 174 Cutback would work as well.

S30V would be a plus.

Boat,

There is a guy on the forum named Steve Rice who goes by STR and has his own page somewhere on Blade. He does clips and studs on Bucks. I talked to him about doing a stud/clip on a 501. I believe he's done quite a few of these mods on Buck knives.
