How do you get a clip mounted tip down on a Manix 2? They don't do this because it might get in the way of the BB lock. Actually the way that I operate the lock there might be room on the handle for a clip to mount up there but I'm not equipped to drill and tap something like that.
I know that you couldn't be expected to infer what I had done, so here is what I did.
I have tried other knives as tip down, and couldn't take to it that easily, if at all.
Due to my love of the manix 2 in hand, I wanted to see if it would be more easily overlooked on this platform, and I tried it the following two ways.
- Spare scales from a disassembled LW manix 2 that I drilled with a small coarse threaded screw and reassembled with a mock up blade of stock thickness to meet the size (thickness) in hand.
- To be sure that it was accurate enough, I also went about it in a more primitive fashion to see if it was a significant difference. This time I took some double sided tape and taped the clip centered over the pivot. No appreciable difference between the two forms felt.
I couldn't take to manix in hand when mocked up as such. This may be partially due to my love of the stock hand feel, and anything altering that might be seen to have an amplified affect?
Though I have tried swapping the clip location on others that I also liked, large and small alike (Spyderco and BM) and the results were the same.
