I hear the new LED grow lights are pretty interesting... haven't looked into it much. We have an entire empty room with east/south facing windows... thinking of expanding our growing season year-round.
 
I have some LED grow lights, I have some T5 growing lights with fixtures, I have an HPS light and i got some CFLs in the mix too..... I use to have a completely different hobby.... And then i had kids lmao

But for indoor growing of most edibles T5s are perfect, I mix the light spectrum full season but keep the timing set to there natural grow seasons.

Unless you are growing other "stuff", T5s are perfect and all you need for most indoor vegetable setups. I find LEDs dont get anywhere near the output during the fruiting, and the stems are a lot weaker most the time. You can get a 4 foot T5 fixture with 4 bulbs around 120 bucks or so and i have had bulbs last years set on timers running 24/7.

With that room you could have an amazing garden!

Yeah, T5's seem like the best bang for the buck, at least at retail prices. It kinda depends on what my wife can get through work... she's in sales for an industrial supply company, so on stuff for the house she gets an awesome discount. So we may just end up with a mix of MH and HPS fixtures. That will work, too :D
 
Yea MH and HPS will work amazingly lmao, What kind of growing you doing? Might be overkill depending on what you grow and it might cost you an arm and a leg in electricity but i know back in the days i would have bought EVERY MH and HPS with ballasts i could get my hands on if my wife got a good discount lmao Them lights aint cheap!!!

But if you are NOT trying to force output out of each plant in a little closet or grow tent forcing growth, then really them lights are overkill and T5 will give you plenty of what you need. When i was using HPSs i was always switching lights and changing setups from 1 stage to the next sometimes having to re-hang different fixtures 2 or 3 times in 1 growing cycle. They are more work and cost more to keep running. They have shown me to produce more during the fruiting stages of most plants but in the long run its not worth it unless you only have space for a couple plants. You have an entire room and are growing something you dont have to worry about people seeing ( I assume anyway ) so i would go with T5, it will cost you less in the long run even with a discount on the HPS/MHs - All just my opinions of course but i might have a little bit of experience with these type lights.

I sold a bunch of my lights about a year or so ago, they were just taking up too much room. I had several 4 foot fixtures, a few 1000w HPSs/ballast and who knows what all, But i did keep just enough lights to grow anything i would want to grow indoors for myself or family. The rest sold and bought me some of my first beckers :)
 
I got the message!!! Eli is shipping my sheath out today! Another WOOOHOOOO! Thats 2 for me this morning, this is turning out to be a pretty good day so far! Now my 1311 needs to sell and it will be like my friend Tony says.....

Just veggies, honest :D. Container stuff like tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, lettuce... everyday type stuff. I will obviously have to crunch all the numbers, but I definitely see what you're saying about T5s being plenty for what I'll need. :thumbup: I really haven't looked into it much yet, just kind of thinking out loud. It's fun... so many options to consider. It's very much like setting up a knife shop, actually.

I cant wait to move back south on my own land im going to grow a huge garden!

What's going on Beckerheads sorry I've been away for for so long. But I'm married now and have another baby on the way. So a lot has happend since I've been gone
