Why Don't You EDC a Butterfly Knife?

In my opinion Butterfly knives are really underrated, and I can't see why they're not more popular. You could argue they have the most secure lockup of any folding knife. Once you master the Quick Draw they're just as fast as any flipper. I think they're not more popular because of the notorious stigma they have as well as seeming hazardous when flipping around, not to mention the legality issue for some states. I've been carrying my 32 and it's quickly become my current favorite EDC.

I did for quite a while... Blatantly illegal yet DILLIGAF :D

I stopped because waved folders are much faster to deploy.

Going to prison gets in the way of me not being in prison. ;)
So I don't carry or even own a balisong.

Prison? Really? Anyway. Owned then for 30 years never EDC still doesn't seem practical. Fun to play with and show off.
Just my opinion.

Not legal where I live. Not really sure that I would want one anyhow. I don't need the drama that comes with a butterfly knife.

Don't care for them at all besides, illegal to EDC in my State.

I'd love to carry one, and they're finally legal in my state now.

My problem is that they all fall into either cheap junk crap that nobody would want, or extremely expensive. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

I don't want a cheap piece of crap, but I can't afford an expensive one right now.

More companies out there should make an "around $100 butterfly knife". If they did, I predict plenty of people would own one.

The Bradley Kimuras made by Kershaw were the bomb, and right in that price range. They should keep doing those and give people a chance to own one that isn't crappy junk, but costs less than $300.

I do EDC a bali and they are finally legal in Texas. Mine are in the $ 250 range. Unfortunately right now the only high quality $ 100 or under bali's are Chinese clones.

Yep! I'm in the same boat you're in. What's up with that? Nobody makes an around $100 quality balisong.

I had a tendency to cut myself while carrying on since I played with it on stop. I finally grew up and gave the few I had away.

I actually carried a bali for around 20 years. Since I was in high school to around the time I discovered clipped knives and blade forums. It's just a knife like any other, usually thick geometry for the ones I carried and often 52100 steel from ball bearing races.

My wife got me a Spyderfly for Christmas many moons ago. It was fun, but pretty impractical. I have it kicking around somewhere, but I doubt I'll carry it again. The stop pin on mine started to work it's way out when I banged it around a lot.

AO and waved folders are faster and more practical for me.

I carried a couple back in the '80's-last one was a Gutmann FHM. I lost it and my old man gave me an Al Mar Eagle about the same time, so I never replaced it. I have a couple FHM beintenueves now, but they rarely see daylight

Illegal in Kali to the point most vendors won't even ship one to this state. Not interested in accruing felonies.

I am still baffled that most states made this knife illegal. It will not do more damage to someone then any other knife. I do not own one and prob never will. Because it is illegal in my state and it's not really my style of knife.
