Why dont you guys update your profile?

Wow, I had absolutely no idea that people took profiles so seriously. Since that's the case, I'll be putting some info in shortly. I think a lot of it is because, most of the other forums we come from are not as highly specialized, serious, and huge. To newcomers the sheer number of members can be overwhelming, leading to people just reading the information and not knowing anyone personally. That is - on other forums, without trying, one becomes very familiar with the regular users quickly, whereas here, there is an illusion of each person always being a stranger.

I look at forums such as this as places to exchange information, not to become friends. I contribute the little that I can, and try to keep my questions to a point where a lot of other people will be able to learn from the answers.

I am with Bruce on this. If I see if a newbie is in my area ( by thier profile) I invite them to my shop and try to get them started in making damascus. This being said CanDo you have a open invite.;)

I started making knives a few years ago, and found several forums about the subject. From this forum I hooked up with IG, if he did not have his profile filled in, I would have never known that he was only 40 miles away, well within driving distance  . This being said, IG may now remove his address from his profile, but it's too late, I already know where he live :( .

Joining a forum, like this or any other, I will always give as much information in my profile as is pertinent, to give others a little background knowledge about myself :D .

Now I'll have to go into my profile to make sure I'm up to date :D .

My profile is so boring that someone could actually die trying to read it. I kept it short just as a saftey precaution.

Finnegan, don't be so hard on yourself! I read your profile; I only had bad headache and a nosebleed! :p :D

Mine has been there for years , it's time I took it off :D :D

I too think , if you ask for info it would be nice to know a little about
who's asking that would be just a courteous thing to offer back,,
and I too read the profiles from time to time.

try getting info from an auto Shop/garage about your car..:D
if you do get it , do you get true info or just junk messing with your mind.. :)

I cant believe that some of you guys expect us to give you information about making knives but you wont even write anything on your profile. Just the bare minimum to register seems wrong to me. Rant, Rant!
And let guys like you all know where I live? Hee hee hee hee, I just looked in a mirror, and so nothing needs to be changed on my profile. I also realized we makers are handsome bastids, too.

Even IG.

I've always had stuff in mine, boring as well, but it's been there. I've tried a couple times to get someone from The Chattanooga area to get hold of me, so I could possibly learn something straight from the horses mouth. Instead I'm just a pluggin along. Anf if anyone has the ability, I wouldn't mind changing my screen name to my actual name, or something. Although Synghyn does mean St John, so it's a bit there anywhoo.

I just checked mine. Still the same old me. Been there since day 1. Being kind of in the buisness and having nothing to hide I want people to know where I'm comming from. I too look at a profile or two from time to time and it is nice to see where someone else is comming from.

Yeah, you heard it, but I think John was lying  just to make you feel good :D you ol' so & so.
