Why I believe the 110 is so misunderstood .

This one (top) is phantastic .... wish they had them earlier.

That one has a proper 110 blade right?

I think the level of misunderstanding is directly proportional to a persons age.

Just like my level of understanding is indirectly proportional to their age.
🤔
That may very well be true.

Recently somebody told me that anybody still carrying a Buck 110 refuses to accept 100 years of knife technology, and I didn't even have words to throw at their stupidity.

If you aren’t in a position where regular belt carry is practical, then I get not carrying one very much. The 110 is a brick. Still, that’s more a reflection on the owner not the knife. When I retire I’ll be happy to have a 110 on my belt again when I want, like in high school.

I guess I'll put in my two cents. There are times when I like to carry a modern folder, but for everyday use, there's always a Buck on my belt. And they do get used every day.

I bought my oldest 110 about 50 years ago, and used to carry it a lot, but about 20 years ago I switched to modern folders, and eventually settled on CRKs as my everyday carry. Then, about three years ago I rediscovered the 110 & 112, and I've been carrying them ever since. They're not one hand opening & closing, but that's not really a big deal to me anymore. They're too heavy for pocket carry, (for my liking anyway), but I find it no more inconvenient to remove a Buck from a belt sheath, than unclipping a modern folder from my pocket. In many cases, it's even less bother.

As for weight, and heft...... that's what makes them real users as far as I'm concerned. For me, I don't find any of the slimmer, lighter, modern folders as comfortable for hard, or extended use as those big, fat, heavy Buck 110s or 112s.

But, as they say-YMMV.

I don’t carry a 110 because I have a 3 inch blade restriction in my area but honestly, it’s too big of a knife for me anyway. I do like the 110 though.

When I carry a 112 I carry it loose at the bottom of my pocket despite it being designed as a sheath knife. My 112 Auto does get carried in a sheath.

That's why the 110LT is great.
I have a 110LT and it's very nearly a perfect solution in this circumstance. But unfortunately, mine has very weak closing pull and sometimes the tip of the blade is exposed proud of the handle. I discovered that issue when I took it out of my pocket one day and the tip of the blade pierced through and sliced open my pocket liner. Could've very easily cut into my upper thigh near my groin, which rattled me. For that reason alone, I don't trust it for pocket carry anymore. Kind of ironic, as it would've been perfect for it.

I love the 110 in all its iterations. The original is great. But I also like the aluminum handles because they are the same size and shape but lighter. I’d like to see another run of those as I prefer it over the 110LT. The middle two in the picture.

Send it in for warranty ?

I can't do it now because of where my flashlight is carried, but when they 1st came out I did drop the LT in next to my pocket organizer and it worked great.

I considered that. I'd also posted in the Buck subforum asking others here if it was a known issue with the LT. Some replies indicated similar experiences with it. But with the LT's pinned construction, I don't know if it could've been economically fixed anyway. At the price I paid for it, about $20 when I bought it at Walmart, I also considered just replacing it. Haven't done that yet, but may give it another go sometime.

The issue with the weak pull was exacerbated by the tendency of the handle to pinch the blade ricasso as it made contact in the handle upon closing. I'd actually thinned that section of the blade by sanding, to ease the friction there. And for a short time, it seemed to help. But the issue started to reveal itself again, sometime later. So, for the time being, I've just put it away.

They feel fine, warmer than the regular 110.
Never used them long enough to see an issue. I assume you can polish or sculpt the handles, if needed.

I replied earlier, about how my Buck 110LT had been erratic about sometimes not keeping the blade fully closed and how that made me distrust it for pocket carry. In remarking about that, it got me thinking about revisiting it. I dug it out of storage and have been fiddling with it for the last 30 minutes or so by repeatedly pulling the blade partially open and releasing it. Each & every time so far, it has been snapping closed fully and staying closed. Maybe the little bit of thinning of the ricasso I did previously has actually helped with that a bit. Or maybe the many months it spent in 'Time-out' has finally made it behave. ;)

Maybe it's time to drop it into the pocket again. Time will tell... 🤞
