I buy American because I want this country to continue MAKING things. When I was a kid nearly everything in our house was made in the USA. Foreign goods were, for the most part, eschewed. Now, it's almost imposible to buy many items that were made here because all of the manufacturing plants and jobs went overseas or across the border.
I find it troubling that so much is made in china, a communist country. It seems insane to me how we blithely become more and more dependent on a country that would ultimately destroy us if they could. For some products the only source is now china, fortunately knives are not in that category. I don't care how "good" they're supposed to be. As long as I can buy domestic-made knives I will.

If all that stuff is being made in China now, maybe capitalism isn't so great after all.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who noticed that.

I find it excellent that stuff is made in China. You can (but do not always; in fact the converse is usually true) get a high build quality at a fraction of the price. Given two identical knives, one made in the USA and one made in China, with the Chinese one being (probably) more inexpensive, I would go for the Chinese blade every time.

Oh, and before you flame me, take a look at my location :D

Lol, thanks :) I appreciate your opinion, and would probably think similarly if I lived in the USA.

don't blame china for our corporate america decision making.
bottom line is they make a buck (dollar)

"Because they are communists" is the reason you won't buy Chinese made goods? This isn't the 60s, America isn't fighting the war on communism any more. How about not buying Chinese made goods due to their labor practices? the well known poor labor conditions are a much better reason to not buy chinese made products than "i'm afraid of communism". How about buying foreign made goods encourages companies to keep their factories in other countries?

Honestly, it just seems paranoid to pick communism as your reason for not buying chinese products.

Not wanting to buy from a country that is hostile to democracy is paranoid? I guess YOUR definition of paranoid varies from the one I'm familiar with.

Oh yeah, you should be the poster boy for the good ol' U.S of A. No wonder foreigners think we are illiterate.

Actually, Capitalism is the reason all this stuff is made in China. American businesses capitalizing on cheap labor and materials, no environmental laws to deal with, tax breaks, etc... Wish it wasn't so, but that's what it is.
Getting harder and harder to find certain things that are American made at all...electronics for instance.

Did you read a plot description of the upcoming remake of Red Dawn recently and mistake it for a news article?
