Why I buy American-made Knives

Stelth, you condemned China's products because they are communists.

Fine, we will ignore all the logical problems with that and continue to my main point:

Should we 'not buy from China cuz they r communists & communists r evel', or should we ONLY buy from the good ol' US of A? Which is your point, exactly?

I mean, Germany's full of Nazis, Japans full of Nazi sympathizers and racists, Taiwan just plain sucks, etc.

You can justify not buying from any country this way. Watch:

Don't buy from Australia, they kill cute little kangaroos!

I have news for you, buddy: A kangaroo's pouch is full of mucus and your logic is flawed!

Skipping all the biting sarcasm and tremendous wit lies my point: Buying from your home country to support your economy is one thing, but don't condemn an entire country's products because of some irrelevant problem you may have with them.

EDIT: I just made myself smile while raging. Point Toasties!

Hey folks don't get bummed!

When I'm feeling down I put a new (made in China) Old Glory sticker on my German Car, then play as the U.S. in a WWII game on my WII. If I'm still down I put on my Viet made Nikes and go for a run.

Seriously, other than York Bumper Plates and Allen Edmunds shoes I have a hard time buying American - and I'm one of the folks who still tries very hard to do so. Anyone have any USA products [other than knives] to endorse?

BTW - The weights and shoes are top A+++.

I think the problem china is becoming is a bit more than "irrelevant".

Also, it used to be that China / Taiwan stuff was junk. The stuff of flea markets. That just isn't the case anymore, they have top notch equipment and skilled workers. I'm just hoping they don't start pumping out automobiles..

You picked a sentence out of context and manipulated it. Well done. Now do yourself a favor; shut up and listen:

I never said China wasn't relevant. Anyone with half a brain knows that China is a World Trade asset, or issue, depending on your opinion.

I merely said that their governing party had nothing to do with why we shouldn't buy their knives. As someone on page 1 said, this isn't the 60s.

I don't see what the 60's has to do with this discussion. America is handing over our leadership role to them and most people aren't alarmed. Knives are a small issue in the big picture but they are also indicative of the larger problem. The global economy will undermine us if we let it.

/popcorn

I buy from mainly European production line knife retailers altough a lot of the European brands I patronise end up somewhere with a made in china mark.

Makes me a little more sad than concerned but its a good excuse to buy some decent metal working tools with a made in (not china) sticker and keep the skill set alive myself.

And for what its worth, my m.i.c knives have been great users.

I think the only things I have that are US made are Rugers, some knives, my cars, my guitars and my kids. ;O)

The common theme in conspiracy theories about a New World Order is that a powerful and secretive elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through a totalitarian world government, which would replace sovereign nation-states and put an end to international power struggles. Significant occurrences in politics and finance are speculated to be orchestrated by an extremely influential cabal operating through many front organizations. Numerous historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to achieve world domination through secret political gatherings and decision-making processes.[2][3][4][5][6]
Prior to the early 1990s, New World Order conspiracism was limited to two American countercultures, primarily the militantly anti-government right, and secondarily fundamentalist Christians concerned with end-time emergence of the Antichrist.[7] Skeptics, such as Michael Barkun and Chip Berlet, have expressed concern that right-wing conspiracy theories about a New World Order have now not only been embraced by many left-wing conspiracy theorists but have seeped into popular culture, thereby inaugurating an unrivaled period of people actively preparing for apocalyptic millenarian scenarios in the United States of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Political scientists warn that this mass hysteria may not only fuel lone-wolf terrorism but have devastating effects on American political life, such as the far right wooing the far left into joining a revolutionary Third Position movement capable of subverting the established political powers.[3][8]
OMG UR RITE WER SCREWD!

Get my meaning?

You can laugh it off as a conspiracy theory........if that makes you feel better.

No, I just think you got caught not knowing what the hell you were talking about and now you're talking out your ass and basically quoting conspiracists.

I'm not done with you, though.

You may choose to not respond to my posts, but I feel it is my civic duty to call your bullshit.
