Why I think it's wise to avoid FB knife groups

Never had any desire to activate a FB account. Too many narcissists on there, privacy issues and the list goes on and on. BF is more knife subject specific and provides more than enough content.

This would have been much more interesting if FB was even close to being a relevant platform for anything more then having imaginary friends.....most of us let that go just after we stop wetting our beds.....

To be surprised by getting ripped off when you join a group of people you don't know, and enter "contests" with zero need for any kind of validity, is surprising.....

Is this referring to me (OP) ?

This seemed unnecessarily condescending. So... bump.

So here are three knives. All purchased via FB private group pages. Two of them were purchased ONLY because I knew they had dropped on a Web site--a limited run of 20 or so. They were gone in under a minute.

If you take your time and learn the ropes and use common sense...you can do well.

From what I am reading, sounds like "ZT guy" did you right. Why did you then leave the group?

As for FB, I have sold a lot of my knives and ti gadgets to dozens of seemingly stand up guys in several relatively well known groups on facebook, and really haven't had any issues. Just like any forum, you have to be wise about it. As for the drama, I just choose to steer clear as much as I possibly can.

You got the knife with no problems.
Sounds like the guy did the right thing to me.

You quit one group, and were kicked out of two over some type of FB drama.
No disrespect intended, but this just sounds like typical FB drama too me.
Do we really need threads for FB knife group drama here on BF when no one was done wrong, and no money was lost ???

Yeah, Matthew Miranda has been kicked out of a lot of groups. He's come up under a bunch of aliases etc. For the same stuff that happened to you.

The only thing Matthew Miranda did to me was start a raffle and send me the authentic ZT I won.
The "stuff that happened to me" was perpetrated by a totally different group where 40 people were bashing Miranda.
I asked one of them about it, and that's when everything got weird.

I still don't know whether or not he's on the level, because all I saw was a bunch of trash talk. Nobody ever said what he actually did to earn it.

-I left his group because just asking what the deal was with him got me kicked out of a couple other groups. If he really is a thief, I'd rather not be associated with him
-And all this drama fell into my lap, I most certainly didn't go looking for it. I was just trying to make sure I wasn't going to get ripped off if I ever did decide to buy a knife from him.

-I never said that the guy didn't do the right thing, I'm not sure how people keep inferring that that's what I was getting at.
He did send me the knife, but no one would explain to me why they were piling on him on the other page. They just kicked me out for asking.
-My point all along was that I joined a few FB knife groups on a whim, not realizing that it would lead to all this drama. This thread was meant to share my experience, and encourage people to just stick to the Exchange here.
So basically:
BF = :thumbup:
FB = :thumbdn:
