Hey all,
I'm somewhat intrested in this knife, but It seems that there are alot up for sale on the exchange. For such a highly anticipated high end production knife based on a killer custom everyone whats to get rid of them fast.
Is there some design flaw with this knife or is it just not what people were expecting?

lots of people still love theirs, but as with many new products, it is difficult to get an idea of its size until its in your hand.

my guess would be the size and weight is what is driving some to sell theirs.

Just think about how many have been sold through dealers and then look at the fairly small amount that are being sold on the various forums. I would say there are many, many more people keeping their MPR folders than there are selling them. It's not for everyone but I have no problems with mine. I think it is still one of the best production tactical styled folders ever made.

Wondered the same thing. Seems like a bunch have been offered up for sale since they came out.

Seems to me that most of the reviews I've read have expressed sentiments along the lines of "this thing is really nice, but as thick as a brick and overall pretty obtuse." So, I'd bet that most people who are selling probably got it into their hands and then realized that a stubby folding prybar isn't exactly what they want.

I'm happy as a clam so0me folks are selling theirs , which means I can eventually buy one on the cheap :)

One mans garbage is another mans...... :D

Thieveslikeus - you like New Order by chance ? :D

On the cheap? Most have been offered for more than I can buy one for brand new at one popular dealer. I did see one on the exchange for 125, but it had a few nicks and the blade was way off center.

I like the looks and sorta wanted one, but It's passed. I do that a lot. See a new knife coming out and think, I have to get that. Then if I wait I realize I can live without it.

Reading all the complaints about blade centering and a loose fitting locking bar on this model, did sorta dampen my desire with this model though. Plus, it's just hasn't got enough blade length to make me really want it bad.

I was thinking about buying one. Then I saw this new ZT0550 that Rick Hinderer and ZT have collaborated on, and have decided to put my money toward that knife instead.

I have nothing against the BM 755. It's a really neat looking knife. I just like the new 0550 that much more! :)

I finally got the chance to hold one in hand it it feels great, but it is crazy thick and I feel the pocket clip could be a bit better [tried it out on jeans and wasn't the easiest to get in and out of the pocket].

Doesn't bother me, but perhaps others is the fact that the lock bar is WAY easy to disengage. There is zero effort pushing it over to allow the blade to close. Not that this affects performance, but definitely feels less assuring do to the lack of resistance.

I was excited about it but then I saw the picture of the lockbar. The cutout is WAY too thin, it looks like it will break if you cough on it.

I sold mine on the exchange last week, but there is nothing at all wrong with the MPR. I do wish they would make a longer version, but it is a tank. Nothing wrong with the lockbar. I only sold mine because I am wanting to buy a new firearm and toy money is tight, and it was the only NIB knife I owned. If you like it, buy it, I highly doubt you will be disappointed. But remember, the handle is VERY thick. I personally liked this feature, as it really promotes a solid grip, and my hands are average sized. I actually kinda miss it now.:o

I love mine, but I can definitely see how it wouldn't be for everyone. The only reason I could ever see myself selling mine is if I needed the money to be able to afford a a high-end folder I really, really wanted.

It's definitely an acquired taste. I like the looks of it, but found it WAY too bulky and heavy to be practical, plus from a functional perspective it's not the greatest (the blade is too thick to be much of a cutter, and the jimping is basically worthless). Also several of the early ones had fit and finish issues - I know mine did. I sent it back.

Well one reason could be is that now that its out people are trying to get in with all the hype and selling it for a profit. That is if they got a good deal on theirs though. I personally love mine and I do not want to get rid of it! I traded for mine and there is nothing I would trade this for.

There is a longer version but it isnt a mini knife at all. Its the Monster Rocket. And it too looks like a tank!

I love mine and will never sell it, I was lucky with a perfect version.
Now I also have to get the ZT 0550 as a bigger brother.

Got one, like it, it's a keeper. And I don't even like folders < 3.5". ;)
Why would people sell it? Can only guess, but clearly the knife isn't what they expected. Could be too small, too thick, those are the only objections I can think of. I like its version of the framelock, though I am wondering how it will keep up after a few years. But I'll be keeping it see it wear.

IMO, BM over supplied the channels with their new 755s. I pre-ordered and thought I'd be receiving a numbered first production of 1000. But I got a 755 that is neither a prototype nor a first production series. And I received my 755 way ahead before a local BM premier knife dealer in my area got their 755 on display.

This is like the "Are you still beating your wife?" question - any answer is anticlimatic. The few I know of, mine included, were happily anticipated and received. I had a secret weapon... I read the catalog description. It is what I wanted - the 741 wasn't, but I fondled one when my pusher got them in anyway. Last year's 760 was a definite no - until I fondled it several times - then brought one home.

Folks buy new knife models for a myriad of reasons - including speculation. That is the source of some of the auction site knives. Others buy them for their 'collections', while still others simply get them because they are 'new'. Many of the latter probably are regular sellors.

My income limits my purchases to what I like - and then within limits. My 755's cost was a large part of my mad money - I considered it carefully. I made a good purchase. In fact, I found myself at the pusher's lair yesterday looking over the new 'pre-production' and black bladed 755 variants that had come in since I had purchased the production version I have.

So... I think the premise of the OP's question is flawed.
