Why is S35VN your favorite steel?

In your favorite knife? What knife?

For those who like S35VN the best (if such in fact exist), why? Thanks.
Just received the Kabar Snody Big Boss in S35VN for a steal at $55. They are discontinuing the knife and are on clearance now. I got it basically for a dedicated food prep blade at the campsite. I realized all my fixed blades are 1095 or mid-carbon 5160. I was specifically interested in a big belly blade for food prep. We don't RV or trailer camp or pay camp. So we are going where nobody else is and pack everything in. This little beast should work great but I've never owned any S35VN knives before.

I like Crucible's steel in general. It's Made in the USA. I know it can be found easily enough, and sharpened easily enough. Other than that, do I have a good reason? Uhh, no.

S35Vn, speaking of my Sebbie 21, is a terrific steel. It's a bit easier to sharpen than S30V, takes and holds a very fine edge for a long time. New steels have come along since then so it's not the newest/latest wondersteel, but it's still a top choice IMHO.

Well you just cost me $105! Haha I love a good deal. Got the large and small snody.

Ha, I figured if I mentioned it, people would start getting them. I had no idea they existed until the other day. I just went to the Kabar site to see what else they were offering other than the Becker's and there they were at the bottom. Just got mine today. Nice little blade.

It's not, it just happens to be on one of my favorite knives the CRK Inkosi. Don't get me wrong, it's a great steel, and I've got zero complaints with it, but I'm more of an M4/K390/Maxamet kinda guy.

Yup ordered one too!🤔.......

I've never really been on the better steel band wagon. For most of my uses anything with a good heat treat will suffice....... I did find that S35vn " felt" more like a carbon steel when edge maintenance was necessary.

That's a plus in my book anyway😉

Would love to read a review once you get used to it. Sounds like a great deal.

My current carry is S45VN which has impressed me quite a bit, I can definitely witness the increase in edge retention.
How about for retouching? I just got my first S35VN blade and I'm nervous I won't like it because it might be hard to retouch. How does the S45VN compare to S35VN and what do you use to maintain them?
