I have the roll stamped bk4 and it has that little hump. Don't know about the laser stamped ones though. It doesn't affect the performance of the knife at all.

I picked up a BK4 of the exchange, just to see what the fuss was about. When I got it in hand, I thought it was cool, but didn't like the ergos and pretty much wrote it off as a dud for me. Before I re-sold it, I decided to take it out on my annual camping trip with my brother-in-law and a couple of his friends. After that weekend, it earned a permanent spot in my gear. If you think of it as a camp axe for chopping, it suddenly makes sense. Everyone ditched their Gerber / Fiskars axes for the weekend and was using the BK4 by the end. For firewood duties, the BK4 is a one-tool wonder and I'll have a hard decision between that and the BK9 on future trips.

I rounded my user Machax but have a mint one with a hank. I'll try and get a pic.
