Why is there no Cold Steel threads?

Cuz, Cold Steal sucks the very life out of anybody who has anything to do with their products! :D

Naaaa; their old stuff was pretty decent. It's their business ethics(or, lack of) that irks most folks nowadays.

I like most of the Cold Steel products that I've gotten my hands on, and find them to be a pretty darn good value. They don't use super steels, but you get quite a bit of knife for $60. See here for example.

At first, the most expensive knives I owned were cold steel but that was 20 years ago. Slowly as my interest in knives grew the more I realized CS products were simply not as good as others for the same price.
Also remember one time I returned one because the blade snapped. Do not remember what I was doing with the knife but wasnt abusing it. CS told me "tough luck"

Still own a couple, but simply put, there are other choices that are better and cost less nowadays.

Besides, Have no need to cut 2 inch thick rope hanging from the ceiling 25 times or to cut up a 2x4.

When the ropes come for you, I hope you have someone nearby to save you.

Attack from rolled up bamboo mats is what really keeps me up at night. Walking down a dark alley, suddenly a rolled up bamboo mat strikes.

Quickly I react with my back harnessed kukri and take my best shot...the mat still stands defiant. Thanks to Cold Steel I can take another 34 swipes ensuring that I am the one who emerges from the darkness...victorious.

I once had a situation with a standing rib roast on a transit bus, but it's still in the courts so I cannot comment.

Following the Cold Steel training material I have been religiously following a high fat diet and sedentary lifestyle. Contrary to what I used to believe, cardio fitness is not something one needs for lethal self defense. Thanks Cold Steel! **whoo, out of breath***

I do really like my Rajah II and will likely buy more triad lock knives as a result.

I still have love for CS. My strongest tightest folders are a CS Spartan and a custom version of the Espada. Strange that a $60 knife locks as tight as a $680 custom Demko? I'll never get rid of either.

i like em to i think the spartan and the rajah ll are amazingly strong and i cant think of any other cheap cost production folders that can chop small trees down...

i do see how some people are like "mall ninja crap" because of throwing stars and war clubs but i bet they make alot of money off that crap.. and in the end isnt that what a normal buissness mind set is? profit ? the first cold steel item i ever knew of was a Bad Axe my friend got at a knife show and i was impressed with it after beating into what was left of a rusted truck in his backyard.. i didnt go buy one... but this type of thing is fun to some young people

I believe there are still ppl who like CS knives, I think there 2010 products are all good. I don't understand why ppl don't like the way they market their knives, same things happen in the automobile industry and electric products all the time, why it's so uncool for knife industry...

^^

Can only speak for myself, but the reason I don't like their marketing is because they use unrealistic ways that knives are used.
I don't have to cut bamboo mats or 2 inch thick rope, nor do I have to bend a knife in a vise.

This made me laugh, thanks!

The Spetznaz shovel is actually a pretty useful and sturdy piece of equipment. Ive used mine HARD for years and it still has the original handle.I got one of the originals from an army surplus place and the CS shovel was actually better quality.--KV

"Daddy, teacher says, everytime a noobie ask, Cold Steel gets a thread." :)

Hopefully this isn't to far of a reach.

Ya, ya, ya, it has all been said before and still remains the same uneducated tripe that it has always been.

tripe?

I sat diwn with a custom knifemaker over the summer. He showed me a knife he designed and brought to a show. Lynn talked to fim, looked at the knife, asked how it worked and how the lockup was...3 months later CS had a new knife on the cover of some magazine, it was a copy of this dudes knife...

And the next time someone produces a knife with a clip point, or a Tanto, or a drop point, or a hollow grind, et all, who should we point to and say 'he' invented it? The fact is that all knives are inspired by someone else's work, otherwise there would be a copy rite or patent on it. I suppose we should now believe that Andrew Demko got his Tri-Ad lock from some other poor sod. Sorry mate, your dog won't hunt.

its not a matter of "he made a knife so he must have copied them" its a matter of the locking mechanism, the size, the blade shape, everything about it screamed copy.

if Chevrolet made a car that looks EXACTLY like a mustang would you say "gee wiz, its jus a car, a car is a car after all...?

You're opinion really doesn't matter, turn a blind eye to unethical busines spractices if you like, keep buying CS crap if you like...I choose to not support a compamy whose head mouthpiece is just a large douche.

I am sorry I started this thread.I didn't know it would cause such a bashing. The fact is I just like the CS knives for their price point and I don't care to watch the videos you are all talking about.

Funny, I just like their knives and couldn't give a 'rat's rosy red' about the antics of LT. I don't know enough about the man's personality to form an opinion. However, I do know that the meat used in the demos falls on clean drop sheets and is then donated to the local food bank.

yea, their video is somehow funny but at least you can see bunch of old guy still so pasionate about knives. also i agree with you that their products are not very good value, i hate their VG-1 products' price tag... but they a mostly well made, at least i never regret buying them.

Haha, I carried my cold steel American Lawman at work this weekend and got a lot of comments from a couple of guys who know about cold steel's ridiculous marketing (who are, oddly enough, not knife people in the slightest).

"So, have you stabbed through any car doors or cow skulls lately with that thing?"
"You should have bought the Great Sword instead. According to some fat executive, it's the ultimate tool for the warrior lifestyle and cutting random chunks of meat."

It was pretty entertaining. :p This was the first time I've actually put the knife to work, though, and it performed really well. Marketing be damned, it turns out they are capable of making a good knife.
