how come we don't see a bunch of black friday knife sales? Don't knife retailers compete like the rest of the world?

I got tons of emails for black friday sales, cant post them though as they would be deal spotting, but some of them are as much as 20% off.

1) I don't know about where you live, but in my neck of the woods, the deal-shoppers are mostly female. There are not a high percentage of female knife shoppers.

2) The mechanisms (bulk buying, special production runs, etc.) that allow the low prices on consumer goods don't really work for knives. They are what they are.

Same here, the usual stores sent me a couple emails with the same basic 20% off/free shipping. Not bad if you wanted to buy a specific knife that is still in production and is on the pricey side.

I've seen a couple of online sales, but either it was just one item on "sale" or they simply said that it was on sale when nothing was really cheaper.

This is a niche market, the majority of the consumers don't pay more than $40 for a pocket knife. That is if they even carry one to begin with.

Guess you're not on the right (or wrong) mailing lists. While not every dealer had a sale, I did receive numerous "Black Friday Sale" emails from the big discounters. Granted, most of the knives they were selling for cheap were garbage and/or closeouts, but that's true of 90% or more of the merchandise peddled on Black Friday.

Thanks guys.

Did anyone see a sale on Cold Steel where i could get a trailmaster san mai for less than $200?

Please PM me, don't respond here in the thread, lest we be cited with "deal spotting".

I have been having a very successful sale since Thursday night. it's still going on till Monday.
The best thing is to make sure your on some of your favorite website mailing lists. They will notify you through emails (providing you give them permission) about upcoming sales so you don't miss out.
