Why no Delica G10?

I really liked the Foliage Green G-10 versions, but I still go back to FRN every time! Old habits I guess.

Not entirely accurate. It wasn't a sprint, it was regular (although limited) production. It didn't sell well enough to maintain in the lineup, or to bump up to full production, which tells you how they judge demand.

My bad...I was under the impression that they were a sprint run.

As mentioned, sales are often the decider in continued production. We're working on a G-10 Endura and Delica in blue that was planned for SG-2, but the cost and minimum quantity required for SG-2 blows it out of the market. Now we're discussing an alternate steel for the G-10 versions.

Any chance of HAP40 or Aogami White perhaps?

Haha.... cue a thousand suggestions! Mine would be ZDP-189! I've long lusted for the FRN version in 189 but a G-10 version with this steel would be AMAZING.

I would like to see a new Japanese Steel that we haven't seen on the line. Very sad to hear that we won't see Super Gold.

I've made grips for both the Delica and Endura models in G10 and G11 and also in titanium for the Delica. I will be doing Ti grips for the Endura shortly. All of my grip designs involve changing the overall shape of the knives and are not a copy of Spyderco's grips. The VG10 steel is a very good performer for just about any task too.

Enduras/Delicas need to be in Japanese steel.

If HAP40 proves to be a success, why not consider it for the G10 too.

Of course Id be happy with VG10 and ZDP but Im sure that fans and Spydercco wants to spice things up a bit.

Sal,

Sounds good, what about high end stainless steel like S35VN or Elmax?

The maker of the Delica/Endura will not use "inferior" American/European steels, they only use Japanese steels. Otherwise we would have seen it already long ago.

I've seen the scales and I am absolutely interested in getting a couple sets. The end result makes the knife look very cool.

Hi John,

It's easier to use a Japanese steel. We've finally got the makers in Seki to agree to try US steels, but we haven't tried to do it yet.

Hi Roger,

FRN is hard to beat for EDC and work.

Hey Powernoodle,

Thanx much for the offer.

I guess ZDP, Superblue or even HAP 40 would be possible.

I'd buy one too. I saw a pic of the Sage colored G10 Delica, and liked it very much. I wish I would have been around Spyderco when it was available.

Well, I just got my Orange Delica. I put the clip TD and she's in my pocket... for a long time.
Thank you, Sal and Knifecenter.
