Why no Delica G10?

I would love to have an Endura, and a Stretch, and possibly a Matriarch, with G-10 and VG10. To me VG-10 is a MORE than adequate performer. I would be willing to pay the same, or a little less as a Para2. I appreciate the attempt to provide more affordable "limited" edition knives: Native s35v and Manix s110v.

Just got my first delica in the awesome blue FRN and have been LOVING it so far! I'm also very impressed with how damn sharp the VG-10 steel came -- it really "grips" everything I take it to, and slices beautifully. The only knife I've had that came as sharp was my ParaMilitary 2, which quickly taught me to respect it or bleed the consequences

I wouldn't mind G-10 scales on a delica, but I like it as an entry-level knife and enjoy the lightweight nature of the FRN. Would be cool to have as an option with different steels, though!

Let's just skip the G10 and do a CF/ZDP-189 sprint! I love my PM2's but my new (and first) Delica I received yesterday is my go to EDC now. It's a ZDP with SpyderEdge and combos perfectly with my ZDP Manbug I carry loose but the collector/connisuer in me would love a fancy CF Delica now. For EDC though the FRN is hard to beat.

I would love a G10 Delica to go with my G10 Endure. I regret not buying the Delica while they were available. VG10 would be just fine...

I have two of the foliage green G10 Delicas. I bought both used on the exchange. I have one set up for right hand and one for left. They are two of my favorites.

I could see using a G10 Delica 4 in VG10 even. It isn't a bad steel at all even if it doesn't have the latest and greatest "cool" factor. I am still good with FRN though. I use the hell out of my Delica.

Original poster said the Delica is an ENTRY LEVEL knife?.
..wow would troops and emts and firefighters and police be shocked to hear they are carrying a beginner's knife....

Oh.....he meant entry level to compulsive flavor of month knife shoppers....but of course...

You might be suprised to know many have gone from the Delica and Endura and backstepped to the Salt series over the heavier and more complicated Gen 4 versions, where still the same cutting power and at lightest weight, and now also with zero worry of rust.....

Many times, "upgrades" are not...most times and in most things where i see that phrase bandied about, they are not....i have an original Benchmade "Spyderco" AFCK which was an "upgrade" of the Police Model...it was not....only fancier....unfortunately it did so well in market that Spyderco came out with own version called the Military...in any test, none of the new will outperform the old....except in ability to be tinkered with rather than swished around in a bucket of water...and in parts to be lost...

I take that back....it would be an upgrade if a 350 lb man intended on hanging from knife, and an upgrade if beat on with a hammer at -20°F and below....

When I read "entry level" I guess I read it as "gateway". Like "Hey I am going to try this Delica thing that Hickok45 carries." and then you turn into a spyderholic...

My original question was why isn't the Delica made with a G10 handle, given the the following are made in G10: Ambitious, Persistence, Tenacious, Chicago, Cat, Resilience, Reverse, Ronin, Dragonfly, Manix, Para Military, Yojimbo, Des Horn, Kiwi, Native, Police, Ulize, Military, Stretch, etc., etc.?
Some posters commented that the original G10 delica didn't sell very well - if so, then why do all these other G10 knives sell well enough to remain in production? Other posters commented that the prefer FRN to G10 - a reasonable point of view, but if so, why aren't they requesting that all these other Spyderco knives be made in FRN instead of G10? If there is a logical answer to this, I would like to hear it.

In a way, you've answered your own question. With all of those knives already built in G-10, there's not a lot of point in having yet-another small G-10 EDC. Spyderco already has a vast product portfolio with a good amount of overlap in terms of price, quality of blade steel, blade length, and handle materials. There's a point of dimishing returns where having yet another G-10 offering in the ~$100 range with a sub-3" stainless blade really doesn't get Spyderco much of anything since it's not taking people from competitors products, just poaching their own sales.

I'm personally of the opinion that a G-10 Delica with liners makes little realistic sense, gaining weight and thickness for no improvement. The Delica is a lockback knife with a very minimal top-to-bottom dimension at the pivot. Even with G-10 and liners, you can't pry with it, you can't spinewhack it... so what is that weight doing for you? Also moves the balance point significantly rearward to an odd extent since the blade is so slim and light.

Yeah, seems you have already answered your own question. They tried the G10 Delica Sprint. They had a carbon fiber version of the previous Delica... apparently the sales numbers or rate for those models didn't justify it being a consistent production model vs the highly popular FRN version.

Several of those knives you listed that are not made in FRN probably don't sell the needed volume even in G10 Slab construction to justify producing them in the numbers needed to invest in the molds and tooling to make FRN versions.

On the other hand, the popular sellers like Manix 2 and Native 5 did continually generate enough sales to justify making them in FRCP.
