Why no ESEE hatchet?

that would be awesome but i dont know if it wil happen they do survival knives and they test them in the jingles right? if im right than i dont think so just cuz you dont useually use a hatchet in the jungle but i could be wrong and maybe it will happen who knows?

its been talked about and considered... it was on the back burner for a while. don't know if they're planning another one yet or not... we shall see

I'm not trying to speak for the guys at ESEE but I don't think we'll see one from them. These guys are all about jungle and the best tool for jungle just isn't an axe. The folks at ESEE seem to be pro-machete all the way. Just to many posts from them about why they prefer the machete.

Would be neat to see what they'd come up with for sure but I think these guys will stick to what they know best.

I could be dead wrong and y'all can tar and feather me later.

They're seriously pro-machete. And they converted me even in these wild jungles of new York. I still lovemy axes, but I now use chetes often.

I believe in the recent past Jeff has mentioned if it was done, they want it to he forged, and that will make it a long project, and not in the near future

They've mentioned that they're at least considering the idea but it's a long way off since if they make one they want it to be forged and have a proper eye. But seriously, a good machete will do just about anything you want it to--even in the north. I'm in Paul Bunyan's sold stomping grounds, and they do everything I need in the woods. :)

There was a time when they were considering it, but I don't think they are planing on it anymore, at least not for the near future. I would like to see what an ESEE hatchet or tomahawk would look like.:D:thumbup:

Very old quote:

Currently RAT Cutlery makes the RC-3 which is an upgraded model of the older RAT-3. We are also introducing an RC-4 and RC-6 before SHOT show time. All of these can be seen on our web site at www.ratcutlery.com There are also plans for a neck knife, tomahawk and forged hand ax for 2008.

a hatchet would be cool but there are a lot of super awesome hatches out there that are pretty hard to beat

Machete's are so much easier to work, with the balance and long cutting edge especially when on the move. Much less energy for swinging and recovery with similar results. Machete:thumbup:

A machete is definitely my preference, probably because that's what I grew up with, but I also want the skills to use every and all tools in the woods competently. I like to be comfortable in the woods, and I don't like the idea of forcing just one tool to do jobs it wasn't specifically designed for, even if I do take pride in having the skill to do so.

I hope I never find myself in a survival situation where I have just one tool.

As the legend goes (at least in these parts), he was born and raised in Bangor, Maine. ;)

That being said he probably never existed, as his image was mostly used as a marketing tool. I mostly used the phrase to indicate I'm from a region of the U.S. known for its logging/timber/paper/other arboreal products industry. So there are lots of big trees. :D
