Why no folders?

If there is a folder in my pocket it's because I can't have a fixed blade on my hip. Busse fixed blades all the way, every day! I'm hoping for an EDC-sized fixed blade in my grab bag this round. I gave away my (2) BGADs to very good buddies. I don't regret it, but it'd be nice if I had bought (3).

Because I can't carry a fixed blade... :( I KNOW the laws say I can, but there is the perception aspect here in So Cal. In the cites and 'burbs, people would totally freak out and call 911 if I legally carried my UG LE or Battle Shark, let alone my TGLB, DSF, or B-8. o_O
Hell, I'm fairly certain the Sheriffs would draw and maybe even ventilate me, if they were in a particularly bad mood when responding.

So yes, I WANT an INFI Busse folder!!!!!!:thumbsup:

Do you go camping....Most cities you can't just carry around a 9" blade. Even if its legal, you will look a little extreme to most. Did you miss the mini mean street?

Don't get to camp much anymore, unfortunately.

My point is even though it's completely legal, I can't carry a 4"- 6" fixed blade without freaking out the general population. I can and do carry a 4" folder every day with no eyebrows raised, so I want an INFI folder!!!

You can't get much out of infi in a folder, its not a folder steel in my opinion (elmax works). I think the best chance for a folder is a collaboration with another knife maker. Kind of like ZT and Hinderer. If the demand for Busse fixed blades slows down, a folder could make sense. Since it would cause them to have to commit half/expand their shop for the folding knife department. I just don't see that happening. I hope you get your infi folder down the road!

I ain't even saying it has to be infi and in fact y'all make same good points about why it shouldn't be. For me it doesn't need to be lifetime warranty either, he'll none of my other folders have one, just think it would be pretty cool is all but I don't see it happening really either.

extrastout, too funny!

Evltcat, I feel your pain. It boils down to how people react. I could wear one, and if an LEO says it makes people uncomfortable then I will put it away in my car. It's people looking at me like I'm deranged that keeps me from doing it with any regularity.

Have a good Labor Day weekend guys!

Same deal. In Philly, without a damn good reason...needed in the course of your job, which you must be on at the time is about it...no knife or cutting tool period. I'm just outside of the city limits, my county is not too bad the further away from Philly you are, but in this township, carrying a fixie is asking for a problem. Legal? Yes. Still, local LEO's can slap you with a catchall, Disorderly Conduct/Disturbing the Peace, which would allow confiscation of the knife, and this is a strong possibility of chance. Then, lawyers...money...court appearances...all necessary in an effort to get said legal knife back. I'll carry a folder 99 rimes out of 100 on an average day, any necessary exceptions aside, such as natural disasters/inclement weather, etc.

I'm in SoCal too... same deal. When I head to hiking trails in the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains, or in San Bernardino/ Big Bear, or the Joshua Tree wilderness, I'll wear my fixed blades--otherwise, these days, I carry a 3.5" XM-18, and try to be inconspicuous about it. In most people's eyes that modestly sized Hinderer looks more like a TGLB--"a big knife"... imagine if they saw my really big knives! Oy...

You need to leave Cali.

My Rodent 6 is on my belt right now. I can even conceal it if I wanted to.

I sometimes get strange looks from people and get the common question "what do you need a knife for" eventually people get over it. I even had a few interaction with police for a few different reasons (i was never the one in trouble) each time I told the police right off that I am carrying a knife (usually scrapper 5 once with the Tgm) all that was ever said was ok just don't reach for it. Unless you're brandishing your knife nobody can say anything about it. I do live in a rural area but have carried 5" or bigger blades for years and make no exceptions when I do go into the city. If the law says I can, then I intend on taking full advantage of my rights, to hell with what the sheeple think. Just my opinion

I worked on a Federal Facility where you had to pass a security gate and were subject to periodic vehicle searches. There was a limit to the size blade you could carry and it had to be a pocket folding knife 3" maximum. Before 911 we could actually stop at the gate and check a firearm into the security office where it was held until you left for the day(I would take my shotgun and on the way home hunt doves). I had one of my blades taken during a vehicle search and had a hell of a time getting it back because I forgot it was in my truck after a hiking trip. So I always wanted a Busse folder after that!!!
