Why no Kershaw Forum?

"Not just to talk about popular brand..." OK questions answered. Would like it if an admin corroborate this but I accept. I guess I was wrong thinking the manufacture had to be in bed with the forums to get a subforum. Washington politics don't apply here i guess.

Those of you with short temper and bashing fits that really showed it on this topic, relax and don't read these forums for couple days. Cool off. And no hard feelings?

"in bed with"?

strange use of words here. a manufacture simply has to chose to participate, nothing more.

the second portion is also odd. you brought much of that on yourself by failing to do your own homework then complaining without knowing the facts. so, perhaps you should apply that to yourself as well.

One guy with an attitude is dropped and another takes his place? Stabbed, relax buddy. If you're going to post every few months to stir a pot then it's probably better you stick to your regular routine of just reading and not contributing. Your question was answered multiple times and you then question the answer you're given. Then when guys get tired of reading your mostly nonsense posts and don't want to deal with you anymore you start attacking because of their post count? While you may not have much to contribute, others have plenty to talk about and discuss. You think there is this dogpiling nature going on here, but you bring it upon yourself. Sometimes being a little humble can get you a long way. Write that down. It's good advice.

haha they say a picture is worth a thousand words but I like writing better. I won't proceed to bother the manufactures on why they don't have their own subforum on such and such forum. It's silly. And frankly I really don't have the time. Notice I have been here a year longer than you and have about 1400 less posts than you. I mainly like to read these forums when I have the time, don't want to go above and beyond.

My post to you may have been aggressive because I was percieving you as having a "this forum is full of payola for certain vendors, and others excuded, and Spark was in on it" bias. I was writing this as you were posting in a diffusing manner. I was a little late by the time I finished. I realize you mean no malice, and I apologize if I came off rather harsh. I do frequent BF quite alot. I have won 3 knives in a year, witnessed some of the most gracious acts (in a cyber manner) of other members showing true brotherly and sisterly love to fellow members. I have learned a tremendous amount of knife knowledge. I have given away 2 knives and a hand made strop and intend on another giveaway soon. I have acquired some great knives on the exchange, and yes, I have posted alot in a year. I have even made some forum members laugh! I have laughed alot at other posts as well. I have little tolerance for criticisms and false accusations from non paying members, they need to go away or start something they deem better. No one is going to poop in our yard without being dealt with. This yard is a good yard.

It's like this Dinkum....I don't play on the General Forums that much....and warn other serious knife people not to as well because it is where the noobs, know-nothings and troublemakers roost...in other words, an exercise in frustration for Los Veteranos.

The bottom line is that the members that DO support BladeForums provide a base that Spark can work with so that many features are free for non-paying members.

There isn't anything wrong with wanting to get something good for free. There IS MUCH wrong with bitching about something that you get for free, and saying it isn't good enough for you.

For those of you griping about what a gyp that BladeForums is while remaining in freeloader status....go somewhere else...participate there(if you can) and see what quality of discussion you wind up with(not very good) and learn something(if you can).

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Ahhh Sven, how much I agree!

Sure. I can at least get information already out there.

This is a quote from the owner of the site, in a recent “why no benchmade” thread.

And this is a section in the FAQ called “I don't see [Company X] represented, why not?”
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/f...rers#faq_faq_section_manufacturers_where_is_x

This is what it says:

“We do not provide "unofficial" company or "fan" forums for any manufacturer. In order for there to be a dedicated forum for any specific company, they must show the willingness to take part in the discussion.
If you do not see your favorite manufacturer listed here, visit their website and contact them by phone or email, and request that they join in. If enough of their customers have a demand for it, they will come.”

Now you've gone and done it. The secret is out!
All of the answers are right there. Who would've thought to look in the FAQ?

:)

The FAQ certainly is frequently asked questions. As for frequently read answers…well I’m not so sure.

I have read almost all the posts in this thread , and I must say it is sad. However there are a lot of people in this world that have no place to vent and it seems they can say whatever they want on a forum and people won't ignore them , they just jump right in. Just the way it is. I would like to say that this forum has been one of my favorites since I found it. I paid for the Gold membership and was happy to do it. When the Dealer price was reduced I bought that and have sold many knives here , and made many friends. It is a place I go several times a day, everyday. I have never liked politics and I don't get involved in why things are the way they are in this forum. If I didn't like it , I would simply leave, and I doubt I would be badly missed. But the good news is this, this forum is a good place and thanks to all who have a hand in running it, I will continue to pay my dues as long as this place exists and I will always applaud when the trolls are banned.:thumbup::thumbup:

The ammount of collective knowledge you can access on this site with a mere post about "HOW TO" or "WHICH ONE" is worth whatever value you place on it.

I lurked here for a time, and registered so as to be able to buy in the exchange. I made a purchase, and saved money.

In the meantime I was able to interact with the membership, and my knife fu increased proportionately.

I made a second purchase on the exchange, and saved money versus retail again. At that point I decided that since I had really wanted the blade, and would have bought it at retail anyways, I would utilize my savings to upgrade my membership status.

I SUPPORT THE SITE THAT SUPPORTS MY HABIT.

Esav-

You sir, show remarkable restraint, and an evenness of temperment that is to be admired.

Moderation such as is evident on this forum, BY ALL THE MODS, is a value unto itself. Any that don't realize that, obviously have not seen a real flame war.

No matter where you go or what you do there are those who think they are entitled just because. These are the same people who know all the scams and easy ways to do stuff rather than the proper way. Basically (0) Zero conscience followed by a delusional sense of self esteem. Sad really. They are the people who cry the loudest and contribute the least. The squeaky wheel syndrome. Well, where I come from the squeaky wheel does not get greased it gets replaced. So, if your unhappy about the paid subscriptions and the benefits they provide, sign out and go somewhere your happier.

Getting a membership here is worth it for the vast archives. You can go back to when Scott Cook first introduced his Lochsa knife and showed some prototype pictures. Lots of info here if you want to look.

Look at it this way: How much would you spend for a one-year subscription to your knife magazine of choice? And you probably wouldn't think twice about spending that money. There's an entire magazine worth of information and photos on this site every day - and probably more. It's worth every penny.

Well, where I come from the squeaky wheel does not get greased it gets replaced.

Nicely put. You may have noticed, few trolls survive long after I tell them to stop irritating me. They rush to meet their fate: suicide by moderator.

I'm not out to get them. The squeak in those wheels is an inherent flaw in their makeup. Reality intrudes, the sun sets, their day ends.

And there is great rejoicing in the land. What a terrible epitaph.

For a fella that claims to have READ the forums for 2 years, you show a significant amount of ignorance. The question of why different knife companies don't have their own forum has been asked and answered many times.

Very interesting thread, I usually hang out in the traditional forum where its pretty mellow, but after reading this I gotta add my .02
I like great knives and I like great forums and am willing to pay whatever I can to get the best that I can afford. After all there is no price tag on what makes me feel good.:D

Your a good person Esav. You have exhibited more patience here dealing with these trolling ungrateful doorknobs than I ever could have. Your fair and you also try and guide them when possible. I have seen your coxing settle some of the new and unknowing right down into decent members. But some come here with the intention to be short timers. And with them all of you Mods are just and painlessly quick. All to our entertainment of coarse....:D:thumbup:
