Why no Kershaw Forum?

He'll probably keep blaming everyone else around him for his own troubles. That can be a hard thing to make someone open their eyes to.

No worries, this topic ruffles a lot of feathers because a lot of good people feel very strongly about BFC, and for good reason. We’ve learned here, we’ve shared what we know, we’ve found friendships that go beyond the knives and we (well I at least) spend a ton of time here.

I still use Google from time to time because in many cases it gives me the results I’m looking for.

yeah i totally understand what you mean.

Another one bites the dust ...

We don't like to be TOO quick to ban, having seen people get carried away with themselves, but given the chance, straighten up. We don't like to lock threads, since the troublemakers aren't the only ones with an interest in speaking up.

Y'all take way too much stuff from some people.
All of you do a great job here at BF. Under appreciated.(IMHO)

Thanks for taking care of all of us.

i didnt want it to turn into this. i just though it would have been good to see the search engine for non members but its fine. ill just use google, it works about the same for me atleast. i didnt think people would start calling each other rednecks and stuff. i never thought i that there was consprices in BF. sorry for the heat that was created.

As others have said, thanks for showing us that you're not what many of us thought you were. That takes a certain amount of intestinal fortitude (aka, balls).

This forum is a great place to learn many things about knives, make new friends, and to waste a lot of time, whether you're a paying member or not. Enjoy. :D

I want to bring this to more civilized discussion please don't bash the minority opinion and don't post silly pictures to insult other members, if you can't express yourself in words, best not to express yourself at all.

OK down to business: So, did Benchmade specifically say that they didn't want a sub forum here? If they didn't wouldn't it be in our best interest to include one since they are such a popular brand here? Same goes for Al Mar, ZT... Now I know Kernshaw didn't want a subforum here, and that's fine.

Someone said a Brand subforum must have a Moderator, fine, just appoint a senior member here, they don't have to work for the specific brand, If that brand doesn't object I don't see the issue.

It's unbelievable that you still don't get it. I mean that exactly how it reads, entirely unbelievable.

a brand subforum needs a moderator that is a representative of that brand, ie, he/she is an employee.

the subforums are not just for members to talk about the knives they like. often times questions are posed that are best, or only, answered by an employee of the company (warranty, repairs, releases, etc.).

since benchmade chooses not to provide a representative, it would not be in the best interests of the forums as a whole to provide a benchmade subforum. a moderator who has no ties to the company provides little use in this instance, other than to monitor behavior.

That's a pointless post. You are right, apparently I don't. Care to explain?
You should not be talking to me about pointless posts. But, why not, even if it has already been explained several times in this thread. But only because you asked so nicely.

I don't know, and it doesn't matter, if Benchmade has specifically said that they don't want one. If they wanted one, they would have one. The way it works here is that a manufacturer can have a manufacturer forum if they supply a moderator for the forum. Manuf. forums are not created because a brand is popular, they are created at the request of the manufacturer.

Someone said a Brand subforum must have a Moderator, fine, just appoint a senior member here, they don't have to work for the specific brand, If that brand doesn't object I don't see the issue.

Spark's house, Spark's rules. The moderator must be a brand representative. He or she can be a senior member so long as the member is appointed by the manufacturer. None of the manufacturer forums that you see have been created for any reason other than because the powers that be at said manufacturer have requested one. There is no conspiracy to promote one brand over another and any legitimate manufacturer is welcome to have a forum if they so choose.

That answer your question?

"Not just to talk about popular brand..." OK questions answered. Would like it if an admin corroborate this but I accept. I guess I was wrong thinking the manufacture had to be in bed with the forums to get a subforum. Washington politics don't apply here i guess.

Those of you with short temper and bashing fits that really showed it on this topic, relax and don't read these forums for couple days. Cool off. And no hard feelings?

I think you mean guts. :D Or would that be testicular fortitude?

You are correct, "balls", "guts", "intestinal or testicular fortitude" or even "manning-up" are exactly what I meant. I think we've seen who the "keepers" are/is and who should walk the plank. :D

I have a suggestion for I got stabbed. Why do you not call or write Benchmade, Kershaw, or any other maker who is not on the site, and ask them why they do not have a sub forum in BF? That way you can get an unbiased opinion/answer to your question. If it is a conspiracy, you now have the ability to blow this thing wide open!!!!!! You can pull out all of your crayons and color us a nice picture of your conclusions. You can even do it for free here on the forum. Go git em tiger!!!!!

haha they say a picture is worth a thousand words but I like writing better. I won't proceed to bother the manufactures on why they don't have their own subforum on such and such forum. It's silly. And frankly I really don't have the time. Notice I have been here a year longer than you and have about 1400 less posts than you. I mainly like to read these forums when I have the time, don't want to go above and beyond.

Would like it if an admin corroborate

Sure. I can at least get information already out there.

This is a quote from the owner of the site, in a recent “why no benchmade” thread.

We don't charge the manufacturers for forums, no.

And this is a section in the FAQ called “I don't see [Company X] represented, why not?”
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/f...rers#faq_faq_section_manufacturers_where_is_x

This is what it says:

“We do not provide "unofficial" company or "fan" forums for any manufacturer. In order for there to be a dedicated forum for any specific company, they must show the willingness to take part in the discussion.
If you do not see your favorite manufacturer listed here, visit their website and contact them by phone or email, and request that they join in. If enough of their customers have a demand for it, they will come.”
