Why not leave a quick +1?

It'd be cool if more folks made it a point to spend the few seconds it takes to leave a little positive feedback.
I try to do so for every transaction.
I'm sure I've missed one here or there. Life gets busy, we're only human, etc.
I don't think I've chosen to not leave positive feedback more than two or three times.
And those situations weren't bad enough for me to choose to leave negative.

Just seems like around 1 of 3 transactions I've done on here I don't get the feedback reciprocated.
I communicate well, ship fast, and definitely don't overcharge (see my feedback).
Just seems like leaving a +1 is a courtesy.
Like "Be Kind, Rewind"
Maybe I'm getting old and this is just a sign of the times...

It's always nice to see that someone was happy with the deal.

I think most of the folks I have dealt with have left feedback, but I do feel it should be automatic after a transaction.

I have found in the 10 years I have been here.
SOME people seem to want + feedback..BUT don't have common courtesy
to reciprocate. Automatic..Perhaps..Maybe--Maybe not--This isn't Russia
ALTHOUGH being considerate and having entitlement issues have been abound lately..
I have found about the same averages as of lately Especially 2014
Not sure what peoples issue is..They are notified ..Feedback was left.
But ...What comes around....
I do my very very best too leave feedback, Not only because its MY DUTY so GOOD people
can earn their reputation..
The feedback that is left for each individual speaks in volumes of ones character and integrity
I for one..Dont deal with some folks in here for my reasons.. Others dont deal with me for
their reasons.. Its kewl.. I don't have to like or deal with everyone in here.
WHAT I feel I need too do as a MEMBER.. Abide by the process and contribute where I am able.
Thanks BF and all who belong.
This is a GREAT place to be a part of..

AUTOMATIC..Yes in some way..Forcing people.. Not so much.. People will be people..Often we are all guilty of getting caught up in the moment and or this fast paced world we live in. Although its still "NO EXCUSE" for one to GIVE feedback and NOT RECEIVE Feedback......!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never griped publicly, but this does bother me too. My count should be more like 66 rather than 56. No one has ever expressed being dissatisfied, but some of my most expensive trades/sells have been one-sided feedback.

Also a gripe of mine, but oddly enough it's the less expensive trades I've never received feedback on. As someone who makes leaving feedback a priority, it would be nice to see that same effort across the board.

Hi Keith -

I was inferring that it should be automatic for people to leave feedback, not that it should be mechanically automated.

Just for clarification.

Often I'll say "I'll leave you +feedback when the transaction is complete and would appreciate it if you'd do the same for me."

I'm not perfect and have certainly missed a few along the way. I also don't mind be asked to do so or reminded.

That's just me though, so YMMV.

I do the same thing. I've even asked a person more than once for them to give me feedback when they got the item and it was to their approval/satisfaction. Some don't but most do.

i've tried with a few transactions i've had through the wanted to buy forums but every time i link either my thread or the other persons i get an error message stating the link isn't valid. i sent an email to the powers that be here at bf but never got a reply.

what about 'services'? if you send a knife off to get pimped and such, can you give feedback on that (again i wasn't able to recently)? thanks

I think that there is about a 50/50 chance of getting feedback from my experience. Most of the feedback that I have ever gotten is from members that post ALOT..Others..that number gets cut in half again.
Basically, people are sometimes worried about the acquisition and not necessarily the hows it went down details. Then there are the people that simply do not want to be identified with buying a particular item..Which I have one request I remove his name from a sale several years ago. I can understand that I guess..It happens.

I have gotten feedback from most of my transactions. I always leave feedback. That is unless the transaction did not warrant it. I have never had a transaction go poorly enough to leave neutral or negative feedback.

I do not want feedback. However, if the other party does I will leave them positive feedback. I usually do all my communicating via personal message or E-mail and it is through PM or E-mail that I give praise, +1's and atta boys.

Only if it occurred in a thread that was created by you or the person doing the work. You can otherwise start a thread in this forum and tell your tale of satisfaction and excellence.

Had this happen to me several times, I leave feedback and nothing in return, it bugs me. Worst offender was a well known service provider here that makes custom scales, after three PM's asking for reciprocal feedback I gave up. Look at my feedback left if you want to know who it is.

I'll throw my perspective/opinion in here. I don't leave feedback unless someone asks me to for one simple reason: I am not very computer-literate and I find leaving feedback on this site to be a time consuming pain in the ass. My computer-illiteracy can be shown by the fact I've been on this site for 8 years and still don't know how to post a picture!

I've only left feedback a few times at the request of a seller, and each time it's taken me anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to figure out. I personally don't care if anyone leaves me feedback since I have no plans to sell anything on this site, so it doesn't really occur to me to leave feedback for others. If they ask, that means it's important to them and I will go to the effort to leave feedback. I do, however, always respond to sellers via email (which is easy to use, unlike the feedback system on this site---my opinion), let them know I am happy with the transaction and thank them.

I generally like the idea of the feedback system and try to use it... when I remember to :o (FWIW I've never had to leave "bad" feedback for anyone I've dealt with here, and I do appreciate the good feedback I've gotten... it sort of counts extra when someone takes the time to do that).

I'm just not sure most BFC members even know it exists, much less look at a buyer or seller's feedback score before considering doing business with them. And to be honest, it really is kind of a pain in the neck.

You have to go to their profile to even find it, then go back again after the deal is done (or not), and mess with a bunch of drop-downs and copy/paste/link back to the sale thread, and type in a minimum number of characters about it... it's not just a "click plus or minus here". bleh.

These are "First-World Problems", I know... but in my experience, when folks get a new knife, they just wanna get down to cutting stuff with it and taking pics/vids and posting how much fun it was or wasn't to use the knife and/or deal with the maker/seller... not muck around with a bunch of extra clicks and menu's and typing that almost no one will ever see. ;)

For me as a knifemaker, I get far better results (more orders and sales) from folks posting in my subforum or telling their friends in other threads or subforums (which they very often do), than I ever have from the "official" feedback system thingamabob (no none has ever told me they bought one of my knives because they looked up my feedback score). So it doesn't bother me that most people don't use it, and quite frankly, I pretty much forgot all about it until I saw this thread. It's just not that big of a factor.

If feedback "scores" showed up on every sale/WTB post like they do on the auction sites, it might be a much bigger factor.
