Why should I buy a 110 Folding Hunter? (I bought a 110 Folding Hunter!)

A custom shop 110 is very hard to beat, I have two of them now and can't wait to get more, I also plan on getting both the 110 ecolites in the future.

My post from another thread, make sure you read below the picture:

Welp, I have spent a little time straightening, sharpening, and cleaning this Buck 110 for my Father-in-law. Lets see, about 5 hours on the blade, some cleaner, some brushing, some wood polish, some brasso, some mineral oil. The sheath needed stitching and some saddle soap. It's been his hunting knife for many many years. Looks like he will get to clean a few more deer with it.

I just looked up the date. Apparently, this Tang Stamp denotes 1967-1972. This thing has been cleaning deer for 40+ years!!!

I got mine is 72 and has the same stamping as your father n law's,I also heard that the one's before 82 had 440C blades, then went to 420HC,great photo Woodrow.

You owe it to yourself to get a 110 folding hunter. One o the greatest knives in the history of knives imho.

One of the all-time great knives, and still can be had at a great price (under $30). In all but a very few samples, I have found the fit and finish to be excellent even on the base models. Don't forget the 112 is equally as nice, and a little smaller in case you want to pocket carry.

You may want to look up the Alaskan Guide 110. You can get the S30V steel without the CS price. That way it's a great knife with the special steel for a lot less. Just trying to give an alternative.

Q. Why should I buy a Buck 110 Folding Hunter?

A. Because it is a great American Icon, an essential tool of the outdoors, a dependable knife, a well made product built of quality material, a helluva bargain, and you are asking "Buck nuts" this question! OH

Actually you can have one of the custom shops with s30v a hair cheaper if go with a less oak, Fuji, cherry or walnut.Unless of course Cabelas has a sale going on.

CS- s30v walnut $86

Cabelas-s30v $89.99

You should buy a 110 so that you can look at your entire folder collection and say, "I wish I would have bought one of these first". Once you have one, you'll know that you have the most classic knife on the planet.

The Buck 110 is the ultimate folding knife ever made. PERIOD. This statement coming from a guy that hates the company"policy" and current "CEO".

Thanks for all the great replies, everyone. I think I'm going to go for the Ecolite first, and if I like it I'll go custom.

Would you care to elaborate. Not sure what the policy is or who the CEO is.

Okay, I'm going to head to Canadian Tire and check out their 110. Thanks for your participation, everyone.

Because millions of men on Viagra can't be wrong.

Because you will go to knife Hell, aka Frost cutlery, if you don't.

All true!

I went with a custom S30v/Indigo/NS 110 for my first and it's a beautiful desk ornament.
Very well made and would perform with the best, but the weight has ruined carrying it and a belt sheath does not cooperate with my sweatpant and dresspant wardrobe.
However, it will get a ride eventually.

Okay, so I bought it, my first 110. It's the standard version with a black leather sheath. Pictures pending.

First off, I paid $67 CAN for the knife and sheath. That's a little high, I know. I paid the same for my 119.

It's definitely pretty, and it feels good in hand. The lock is a little hard to depress; I imagine it'l need wearing in, which is fine, all of my other lockbacks are like that. One scale is almost black, and the other is a pretty brown wood. The brass bolsters are very nice. I didn't test sharpness yet, so I'll get back to you on that. There is a little side to side play, and it bothers me that I can't adjust the pivot. It especially bothers me that the one on display, which I handled, had no play at all. None of the other folders I carry have any play, does this affect performance ever?

I like the swedge on the back, and the satin finish on the blade.

The sheath, like the one my 119, is of exemplary quality. I absolutely love it. I'll post pictures of the knife in an hour or so.
