Why should I buy one?

Okay recently I have been drooling over the Team Gemini LB but I have made an "oath" in the past that I would never spend more than $200 on a knife because I don't make much money and what I do make probably shouldn't be spent on tools:(. Anyway like I said I really like the look and idea of the Team Gemini but almost $400 is a tough bite to swallow for a guy that really only likes users. I don't really want a piece of steel to sit on a shelf and look pretty. I want a blade that I would be able to count on for years of hard use in the wilderness. So is the $400 price tag worth it? Why? Is the Team Gemini the wrong decision?I figured the Busse guys of TheBladeForums would be the guys to talk with to convince me to spend more money than I should:D.

Thanks,

Get a user secondhand, they sometimes sell for less than $400. Also, look at the Kin for equivalent blades at lower prices. Only thing to watch is that SR-101 is not near as rust resistant as INFI, but an awesome steel regardless.

Well its a all around well designed blade shape, and it will last forever. The warranty is exceptional as well. Once you use one you discover just how big an improvement infi steel really is, I've owned and used alot of different outdoor blades, Esee, Becker, Chris Reeve and as good as they are they arn't as good as the Tglb. The balance is outstanding, the blade geometry is just right and its just a really good all around knife. I can't say enough good things about it. Its really a step up in performance durability and edge holding over most other blades. Is it worth the price? It sure is to me.

Actually thats not a bad idea, I don't mind secondhand. Oh and rust resistance isnt a big deal for me.

You have know idea, I'm the most impatient person I know:D Also, I looked around in The Knife Exchange and couldn't find any adds for a TGLB user so where else could I find one?

I once had a very similar predicament: I was smitten by the boss jack but I couldn't justify the cost. Someone here told me to get a ratmandu, as it was less expensive and I'd probably like it better. I didn't really listen as I was so determined to get a boss jack. Well, I got one and liked it a lot; until I got an Ratmandu. Now I have 2 rmds and no boss jacks. So whichever forum member it was who told me that was exactly right, I just didn't listen.

There's no real moral to that story, except get what makes you happy. But don't overlook the swamp rats. The R6 might be just what you're looking for, and you won't have to break your $ limit.

As much as I like Busses, if money is tight, $400 is a lot to drop on a knife. Try ScrapYarp or SwampRat (Busse-kin), they both make amazing blades for less money.

A Scrapyard 911 is LOTS of knife for the $$s !!! The TGLB is just lots of knife...!!

I agree with both of the above, especially what plue said.

But, if the TGLB is definitely the one you want, then maybe that is the right choice but the timing is just not right. Many years ago when a SHSHII was $297 and a SHBM was $347, I could not justify that much for either one, but years later I did eventually end up spending more for them (my financial situation improved). Only you know your current financial situation, so do what you think is best.

You will never need to buy another knife again if you get the TGLB (although we all know it never ends with just one). Best warranty in the industry. You can tell your friends you have Daryl Dixon's knife. I personally got my first Busse by selling off a couple of WAY inferior blades. If you have a few laying around, sell them to help fund it. I don't think there is a single person with a TGLB (or TGHB) that regrets spending the money.

Well I did some looking and the only comparable blade from Swamp Rat or Scrapyard is the Rodent-7 but it has a bit too short of a blade for me with that choil so it sounds like a strange question but how is the blade measured? Tip-handles or cutting edge?

Some vows should never be broken. Some should be written off as the rashness of youth.

You Really answered your own question without realizing when you came here....You get this knife you will USE it and you will be surprised how good you will feel about the investment or going over the budget limit. This is a knife made for hard use in the
wilderness or your backyard. The balance blade geometry will certainly shine. Some good advice and what GunfixrJoe said "Just Do It"....
