Why should I buy one?

Well I did some looking and the only comparable blade from Swamp Rat or Scrapyard is the Rodent-7 but it has a bit too short of a blade for me with that choil so it sounds like a strange question but how is the blade measured? Tip-handles or cutting edge?

All of our blades are measured from the tip to the handle.

Some vows should never be broken. Some should be written off as the rashness of youth.

Well said Sir.
The knife is worth the $ IMHO, - every penny of it.
But is it worth it to YOU is something you have to decide.
Word of caution though - you should not blow your dough on stuff you cannot afford or justify.

I suggest waiting a couple of months to see if you still want it as much, then start searching for a secondhand-scoop if you still crave it. (bonus: you can save some money during those months to help justify it)

YThe Scrapyard 711 is another alternative.
If you are looking at users for sale, I would also look at Hell Razors, SFNOs, NMSFNOs, TMDSF/DSSF, SAR8, SARGE7, SARSquatch, and maybe even the SHe(if you are really lucky)

My favorite is the SHe, and I have seen them go that low on rare occasions.

If you have huge farmer hands though, I would stay away from the ergo handle

Its not so much the budget but the justification part that I'm having troubles with.
Also how do you guys like the Rodent-7? Is it comparable to the TGLB?

The one that calls out to you will probably be the one you will get the most satisfaction out of. Everything mentioned so far will be entirely capable. If you start with the one you really want, you might be satisfied. If you choose something because it costs less, you will still want what you really wanted to begin with.

Get a user secondhand, they sometimes sell for less than $400. Also, look at the Kin for equivalent blades at lower prices. Only thing to watch is that SR-101 is not near as rust resistant as INFI, but an awesome steel regardless.

I second this. The Kin are great and still well worth the price IMO. The first I got was the 711 (best mid-size sub $200 knife for the money, IMO). I got it loved (no sheath) for about $110 which is well worth it for the knife you get. When I took the thing out of the package I instantly knew why everyone raves over these knives. I got the RMD new next wanting to get the whole experience (choosing colors, sheath, and the giddy wait). While I was looking at my first kin I caught myself thinking why would someone have the desire to get a busse if the Kin are SO great. Now I know, its a addition. An addition to awesome steel!.....Now i'm saving for a TGLB -_-. No shame here! If you want it, save for it. The worst you can do is save, get it, and sell it for the same if not more than you bought it for.

Save your pennies and get the TGLB if that's the one you want  You will be getting one of the best knifes ever made for 387$

The Gemini is worth every single penny, period. Anything worth getting is worth saving for and waiting. If your going to buy a tool then buy the best you can afford the first time or you will just spend more later trying to make yourself happy.
In fact I like the Gemini so much that if you get it and hate it, Sell it to me and I will give you exactly what you paid for it. I can always use another knife.

 THIS!!!
Where else are you going to find a money back guarantee from a fellow knife lover?!??!!??
If you can afford it, DO IT! I love my TGLB! :D

Well if I do buy one I doubt I will have to take you up on that offer

Well I agree, because I have had this happen to me. But actually the more I look the more I like the look of the Rodent-7

Because it's the best all-round fixed blade on the market.

I use the handle on mine to hammer steel tent stakes.

None of my knives are safe queens. When I spend $400 on a tool, I expect to get $400 worth of use out of it.
