Why so little excitement for the Leaf Storm?

Thanks for the pictures, I like it. What does spyderco call that jade green g-10?

The estimated $110-$130, is high for knife this size isn't it?

I think I'm starting to see what everyone is talking about... the lack of an apparent choil behind the blade to choke up on would kind of kill the deal for me.

I think it's called G-11, translucent G-10.

The est. street price isn't bad when you compare it to similar knives like the Lava, Poliwog, and the Dodo.

Out of all of the new spyderco models this is probably the one I'm most excited for. I'm interested in the FRN stretch also but I think I want the leafstorm the most

I've actually owned one of the custom versions a few years ago and it left me cold. I just found the blade to handle ratio far from my liking. And I'm not big on ti-one-side/G10(11)-the-other-side handles ,either. So, for me, this one is a pass.

I am actually quite interested in this one. Can anyone tell me when these will be available? And is that a Titanium framelock I see?

I've been anticipating this one since it was announced. Can't wait to pick one up. I got to handle one of the production prototypes and really liked it!

Can't wait for this knife. Looks great and is cool to see a custom knife go production. Makes it more accessible/affordable and gets the knife maker's name out there.

All of which are discontinued due to poor sales because they were too expensive for their size. ;) Even though they were worth every penny to nuts like us, the average knife buyer won't lay out that kind of money for a two-inch blade.

:( I figured as much. The Dodo was neat, the Poliwog was IIRC the first to use the BBL, or maybe it was the D'Allara?

I wonder if the actual costs are related to knife size?

The Dodo was the first BBL knife. :)

Ball bearing locks aren't cheap to make, and the Lava is an engineering marvel. How many other folders do you see with that offset lockbar? I've never seen anything like it. Engineering like that doesn't come cheap, either. In fact, the small size of the knives most likely add to the difficulty of getting everything right. That doesn't change the fact that Joe Average isn't willing to spend fifty to sixty dollars per blade inch for a knife. For that matter, I'm not willing to spend fifty to sixty dollars per blade inch for a knife. My Poliwog, Lava and Dodos were all bought on the secondary market for less than that after considerable patient searching. If I ever get a Leafstorm, it will be the same way.
