Why so much commentary in for sale threads?

I've been guilty of commenting in sales threads with no intention of buying quite a few times.I'll try & suppress my enthusiasm in the future.

(I'm not trying to be a smartass at all,I'm dead serious)

I usually don't like anything written/said in a sale thread. I've seen where people will remark in an 'underhanded way" to blight the person/knife.

The usual, "nice knife" or "great price on a fine knife" usually gets an audible "sigh" from me.

I really don't like to see commentary or praise in sales threads because I suspect that this is part of a plot by the seller to enhance his knife,or create an urgent
need to buy the knife.
Gee I sound paranoid.

Not just you. We used to have a rule against doing that for exactly that reason. It bumped the thread to the top of the page,
made the seller look good, generally created unfair competition.

(If you're not paranoid, you aren't paying enough attention to what's going on around you! :))

I just clicked on that link, and you do have a warning (yellow card) rather than an infraction (red card). No infraction points.

Appreciate the information, didn't think I committed a mortal sin :)

I try to play by the rules, and am fully aware the Mods have a difficult job...thank you

Personally, if I'm scanning through the Sales area, see something interesting and then notice a high number of posts I figure it's probably gone and move on. That might not be true and we all know about assumptions, but time is sometimes short and that's what I do. Too much chatting in a sales thread might discourage views. My 2 cents.

I have to admit that if I didn't read through the entire thread, I would have typed this myself. So instead, +1 on this point. Too many replies for one or two offerings means I probably won't look into it (in Productions by Individual).
