Why Spyderco?

I never said that they do fall apart. I know for a fact that they don't, just like Cold Steel. What I'm saying is that look is unattractive to my preference. I like my knives to look strong and powerful. I've seen great reviews of spydercos and how strong they can be, but that doesn't change the fact that the scales sometimes look like they are made out of cheap plastic (in my opinion).

However, I do want to own one just to get the experience of owning said blade, just like how I want to own a sebenza and a brous division at some point in my life. Right now, I've mostly had 2 points on the company spectrum of knives, giving me 2 categories to classify knives. Owning a wide variety of knives is a good way to form an educated opinion about blades.

Lastly, if I come across aggressive, I don't mean to. You make a great point about not having to buy one, but I do want to own at least one so I can be educated on the knife market and better understand what I like and dislike about certain blades.

Which, of course, brings me right back to the Sage 2 . . .

Value. For example, the Endura, Delica, Para2, Military, Manix, and other US and Japanese made Spydercos are an incredible value for your money, especially compared to Benchmade post MAP enforcement pricing.

Just don't get one of the Chinese knives to base your evaluation of the brand on.

The Taichung Spydies are some of the best value knives out there for the money compared to the materials and fit & finish you get IMHO...

I recently saw a video from CutleryLover showing a knockoff vs a legit spyderco. I realized how little I knew about spyderco, because at almost every turn, I thought the Knockoff was the real Spyderco.

I agree, I find most of their blades not very attractive. The only one that I desire really is the Szabo folder. They remind me of Cold Steel blades, which just look cheap. I know they aren't, but when I see pictures of them, I just think that they would fall apart in my hand

WOW, that's funny......

Which is why you buy from a dealer instead of the guy with the swords at the mall.

I have 2 Spydies, a GB and a MT19. I prefer a stud over a hole, but cutting performance trumps opening method for me. I remember seeing an interview with Sal, he stated that his knives were made for the hand, not the eye. So that might explain the looks.

i ordered a spyderco endura 4 with full flat grind with vg10 steel online at walmart one drunken night, then when i picked it up i thought it looked cheap and i didnt like the feel cause its a pure cutter, slicer but it started making its way into my pocket more often because of the super slim design, and now after using quite a bit, i love the thing, and want to get more spydercos with even better steels

Then maybe you should hold off on making statements like

until you form that "educated opinion" you are wanting to delvelop.

Instead of making rash judgments based on imagination without facts.

My curiosity lead me to my Domino Sprint Run purchase from Taichung. I am indeed impressed!

Also never owned CRK, opinions on claims such as buttery smooth pivot with quality to boot. My curiosity again, lead me to expect my large Insingo tomorrow from CRK, so I can see for myself.

Just my .02.

This was a fun read for me; I'm also new and just my first Spyderco on the Exchange this afternoon. *And* it's the new Native 5 Lightweight that bld522 praised early in this thread. I mean it's no Sage 2, but still!

Dude... Wut..?

even though some of the cheaper spyderco handles looks cheap, theyre actually very strong and solid, for the price, i really dont think i can recommend spyderco enough, not re hash the point that they make a knife for anything you could possibly want to do with a knife

Actually I was pining for a Worker as far back as 1982. It was all over though when the Police Model dropped.

You can see what I think about Spyderco...

Sage 3CF, Sage 3 BlueG10, Sage 2 titanium

I do like the Sage 2 a lot...
