why spyderco?

If the look of a Spyderco scares you, by all means run away to some other manufacturer. ;)

I never used to like them, I was put off by the looks. Then I broke down and bought one. I haven't looked back since. Great ergonomics, so many steel choices, these knives are made to be used rather than to be looked at. And Sal is a salt of the earth kind of guy.

The majority of their models are extremely versatile in the fact that you have the option of placing the pocket clip where you want it. This is seen mainly on their more popular models i.e.. endura, tenacious, and so on. Their knives are made of excellent materials at an amazing price point. I also love the sprint runs. Spyderco challenges the term "you get what you pay for" in essence you are getting higher quality for less money. And the best part is in comparison to my sebenza's and my R. Hinderer XM-18 I don't cringe when I put them through hard use.

Sounds informative to me,it's nice to see such a loyal following of knife enthusiast and a company that feeds them what they want.Perhaps Ill break down n buy one of their more popular models,,,paramilitary or military?

The only turn off to the model I have is that it says " china " on one side of the blade....
Other than that It is a great knife.

No one else is nearly as innovative with blade steel, and no production company does HT better (and few do it as well).

Military - a classic, almost a must-have even if you are not a Spyderco fan, just like the BM 710.

When I started collecting knives several years ago, I didn't like them that much either. I thought that they looked weird. Once you start using them, they REALLY grow on you. I probably own more Spydercos than any other manufacturer. I think they hit the price-to-use ratio perfectly. I've owned 3-4 Sebenzas over the years, but their price made me hesitant to really use them. I don't have the same hesitation about the Spydercos. They just feel so right in the hand and they slice better than any of the other folders I have (except for a Sere 2000 I had reground by Tom Krein).

i didnt understand either, untill i got my first spyderco
i dont mind spending the extra money and getting the guaranteed quality knife

Spyderco consistently produces some of the highest quality knives with the most modern materials in the production knife arena - for reasonable prices. I don't think anyone can deny that they are really fantastic knives.

and I really never have liked the Spyder-hole.
