Why spyderco??

Spyderco makes brilliant knives which many find beautiful, but are generally function over form. Benchmade makes brilliant knives, as does Kershaw, as does Boker, as do other quality manufacturers. So if Spyderco doesn't do it for you, then no big deal. Prefer thumbstuds? There are excellent production knives with thumbstuds. Like the car analogy already made, if you don't like Jeeps, don't buy a Jeep. The world of knives is full of quality alternatives.

I have about twenty Spydercos and even I don't think every model Spyderco makes is attractive. Spyderco isn't afraid to takes some risks in product development, and occasionally get way outside of the mainstream on what a "standard" EDC locking folder should look like. Sometimes it's a hit with me. Sometimes it's a miss with me. But I respect Spyderco for experimenting.

Why Spyderco?

Because of the excellent quality control nd customer service. Because they are always sharp. Because Design follows function. Because they experiment with materials, construction, they refine their models and use customer feedback to come with the best and safest possible result. That is why. MItko :-)

I do completely understand where you are coming from. Alot of people on here swear by the pm2, as its the best edc knife ever. My brother has one in his pocket 100% of the time and I personally hate the way it feels in my hand. Now that being said my manix2 is a whole different ball game. I love the way my manix looks, the way it feels, and the thing came out of the box laser sharp. I do not however edc carry my manix ( my buck vantage pro still gets the edc duty) that doesnt mean it wouldnt be a perfect edc for someone else. I think if you like the way the manix looks you should go hold one and see if you like the way it feels in your hand. Spyderco does make a fantasic product.

I like my Delica 4. It's my EDC and it works really well. I haven't thought much about how it looks, though. If I want to see something which looks nice, I'll wait till I get home and check my wife out. ;) Knives are for using, not looking at.

It's all relative to your taste in knives. That's what it really comes down to. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to whether or not a knife looks good. As for Spyderco specifically, their main concern is ergonomics and functionality rather than looks.

Yup. Of course there are people like me who prefer the looks of Spyderco to Benchmades. It's in the eye of the beholder my friend.

That's a good point, but when on the forums all everyone talks about is spyderco, I get their functional, but so are aloe of other knives that are a bit more asteticly pleasing. Spyderco and Becker* is what everyone talks about.

That's called a "clue". :D

What a pocket knife is intended to do, Spyderco is one of the best in making it so.
This sums up my perspective. That, and they are very well priced for what you get. I'm down to just 8 right now (a minimum for me) but have had dozens come and go.
