Why won't my knife sell?

Hello Hogs, Im basically giving away my AALB with a beautiful Chuddy Bear dangler sheath and the knife will not sell. Is the secondary market that soft right now? Ive noticed stuff selling really cheap, how many hundreds from retail do I need to discount to sell this blade? As of right now Im almost loosing 300 bucks with the sheath included. However, I must say I did have the knife sold but it was to a guy who was using a freight forward shipping company and having the knife shipped to China (blade forums member). I issued this buyer a full refund because I would like to protect American manufacturing and authenticity of the Busse brand if I can help it. So my question is what is wrong with this ad? What is wrong with my pricing? Is it the pics? Any advice would be appreciated.....

Well, Christmas time means less disposable income for things other than gifting. Add that to the marshmallow the market has become and, well, there you go.

Nobody's paying for your knife/sheath combo plus shipping to China to copy it - they're not that concerned with authenticity in making knock-offs. The apparent problem as to why your knife won't sell is you're rejecting interested buyers who've paid you.

You must not be familiar with all the new knockoffs out right now coming from China? I will go as far to say that Strider, Microtech, CRK are probably being hurt considerably by all these hi quality chinesse clones in production. I say clones because the ones I have recently seen at a local gun show were so hi quality that I had to really look at them hard to tell they were fakes. So I think you are incorrect by stating China is not concerned with authenticity. I feel we as collectors should try to protect American manufacturing and sell to American in country to circumvent these possible issues....

Too many knives circulating, with a Bazillion Grab Bags being sold the forum is saturated with Coated knives! Your Argonne Assault is a beautiful piece, However the finger Grooves are an uncertainty for many because they do not know if that particular knife Handle will fit or feel right in their hands-Good luck with your thread and be patient!!!

Yeah, I hear you! I guess the abundance of so many Busse Knives has devalued the brand to some degree, especially the secondary market. I remember a time when all you could do with Busse Knives is win. They always sold fast and for more than you paid for them.
This is the first I have seen stuff hard to sell even at a cheap price....

It's not just your knife or even Busse knives in general. No knives from any manufacturer are selling good right now.

Honestly, the grab bags didn't bring the secondary market prices down much at all because they had some different and unique knives (BT6 and custom shop pieces for instance). O2W on the other hand has definitely changed the market in many ways, including significantly reducing the secondary market prices on many knives (but not all). I used to buy a knife if I was at all on the fence about it, because if it wasn't quite right for me after receiving and holding it, I could pretty much always resell it and and break even. That is not the case nowadays, so I'm much more careful with what blades I buy. The flip side is that many new buyers can get to experience how great the brand is and not spend a huge amount of money (or at least not as much as they would have paid in years previous). As is the way with many things, there are both positive and negative aspects to the current market.

Do you think that the knife bubble market has finally popped? Ive been wondering for a while if and when it was going to happen....

Knives are overpriced... and orange isn't the most popular color for a knife. Maybe at a lower price point orange is more accepted, but paying that much for a knife... I'd go with more common/loved colors.

Just give it a week and repost. Some people wait months for the right person (sucker) to come along. :)

I wish I knew how to answer your question...id be lying if I tried.

It does seem that many makers knives prices have been falling; however, many are still blowing up in prices. Look at the prices on Radknives for instance, or try finding a Fischer Battle at anywhere near cost.

Kind of an interesting knife with a fairly high price maybe the pool of people interested is just too small and that's why even at deep discount, I've noticed the exchange is a buyer's market and only see things that are rare or in high demand go near fmv, don't know much about the knife market on the whole tho, have you vetted other marketplaces?

IMHO the Busse market bubble popped years ago. You simply cannot buy any knife expecting to flip it later for at least cost. It is a much more saturated market now, and only certain models pop briefly.

Yes but aren't those hand made hand forged full on custom blades? There is a big difference in production between full custom limited versus hi volume manufacturing...

I disagree. Every knife I have purchased, I have done ok with and not lost on until this year. I use to think that Busse Knives were the Randall Made of our generation, now Im not sure. However, I think to much availability of blades has hurt us all significantly especially the secondary market.

I haven't been around Busse/kin too long, but long enough to know Op2Wks has had a huge impact on the Exchange. Stuff generally still moves, but premiums on resale are scare and it's a buyers market for the most part.

There's a lot of stuff on the Exchange right now that I want at decent prices, but with orders I still haven't paid for out there and new offerings coming up, I've been trying to stay away.

I actually looked at that ad and thought it was a great price but wasn't a huge fan of the knuckle guard and grip colors. I think this is just a matter of waiting for someone to come along looking for that model and you did have an interested buyer quickly albeit not meeting your buyer criteria.

It is a great piece with great sheath. Color of scales may be a small thing.

Being a trench knife is another. Not legal everywher.
