Why Would Anyone Buy a BK12?

Thanks. And yea you would have to grind it on a stone to bring the full grind back to make it all uniform. I'v seen that guy VirtuoVice on youtube do it to a couple of blades.

wow, you've gotta want it real bad to do that.
Might as well make the blade you want from scratch!

Don't think it would be to bad. Taking your time you could do it in an hour or so with the right grit.

haha. and your right, I don't want it bad enough yet.

If one ever wanted a ramped, thinner and longer BK2 and was willing to shell out an extra $60ish for it then the BK12 would be their logical choice. Just my deduction anyways. I bought one because I "want them all" and am willing to spend the money to "get them all". The only currently produced BK I'm missing right now is a 3 so I'm almost there. I'm a collector but I use my collection and modify it. No plans on ever selling....

To each his own. Many in the BK lineup overlap in task specific usage. Arguably you could do everything you ever need with a 9/14 combo...

I was looking at a 10 and wondering if I could grind it to a drop point, similar to the 12?

i had a similar thought, and this is now my bk10.

OH DAMN! that's better than I would have envisioned! BK10 will be on the way to me by the end of the week!
Hope you don't mind if I copy that!

I have have the 2,and bk 10 so the only reason I can thank of is that I don't have a 12 yet!!!

Not at all, copy until you're hearts content. I'm actually very impressed with how it feels in the hand, still has plenty of heft but seems more nimble. Quite nice really.

Just discovered the RSK/BK12, and prefer its profile over any other Beckers. May have to give it a try. Oh, and when one wanders in from Bussekinland, $125 for a good blade is nothing. And those other Beckers are going up in price. I paid $58 (shipped!) for my BK2 last August, and saw a used one exceed that recently on ebay...Cheers.

PS - Just noticed that the BK12 profile reminds me of the ASH1. That's why I like it so much.

I've got a BK-12 and I really like it. Got it in trade and put some micarta on it. I was able to handle a few other beckers before I got the 12 and I would not trade it away. The BK-2 is just too heavy for me (no offense to all the BK-2 diehards out there :) The 12 gives me a solid knife that is still nimble and quick in the hand. Good blade shape and balance. To me, the positive aspects of the knife outway a higher price point. Pick one up and you'll see!

I've got them all, and I love my Ka-bar Beckers, but I have to say that the fit and finish and overall quality of the BK-12 Rowen blade is top notch. It's worth the extra coin.

And from a knife prospective, it is my favorite blade of that size. I really don't like my 7, I really do like my 10, But I absolutely love my 12.

Blade shape is very practical and nice to use. Not to mention sexy as hell.

It's not for every one tho, I kind of think of it as the high end Becker, and yes the BK-10 or BK-7 will do you just fine for a lot less money.

Great picture showing the comparision Dexwithers.

I personally would have to be nudged pretty hard to get the more expensive Rowen blade relative to the Kabar Becker.

well. if you wanted a Becker like knife, but you wanted a Rowen made version, reason.

if you are trying to collect them all - esp by number, you have to... reason.
(though, most will fail, because some of them you can't buy, you'd have to steal them)

there's also just the fact, it's a frakking good knife, and you need six :D
