Wich inexpensive knife (unknown) gave you good results?

Gerber Obsidian. Found one for like $10 and with a little TLC it is the smoothest button lock I have seen. If you can find one under $20, try it out.

Ganzo G710. Strong, good hardness on the blade steel, and nice smooth action. Not much else could be asked out of a ~$20 knife.

Lastly anything SAK or Opinel. They hold a supreme reputation for a reason.

For me,SRM 707 did just well for the price of 15$. It's a nice EDC ,no worries if I lost it. Build just fine, good lock, perfectly centered. Steel is not the hardest, but for the small tasks ,its just enough. Sharpened to 15 degrees, razor sharp.

A relatively (as far as I know) unknown make, Fox Outdoors (a.k.a. Max Fuchs AG)- doesn't even have a model name. A bit too big, a bit too heavy, but IMHO great ergos (and I presume not top quality either, although fit & finish seem more than adequate), about $20:

EDIT: Just edited to add the handle ergos are a bit 'devious'- it offers three ways to grip a knife ('pistol grip' being surprisingly comfortable and effective)...

I am pleasantly surprised how well a short (maybe 6-7")chef's knife from IKEA has worked out. Blade is thin I figured it would probably suck but I liked the handle ethos (black and grey plastic/rubber) so I took a chance for $5. it has seen abuse we put it through the dishwasher (yes, I know some of you are cringing) but it sharpens easily and holds an edge well. Great buy!

Forgot to add the Victorinox Recruit, is a phenomenal knife given the price, it sports everything you really need IMO, on a SAK, and nothing you don't. Very minimalistic in it's construction.

Ontario RAT 1. I just think it is a hardworking blade. The steel takes an edge, flicks open well, nice liners, and you can abuse it without cringing about hurting the blade.

I'm confused. The OP specifically stated "I have put "unknown" in the title, because if not, it will be all mora, opinel, swiss army, buck. Not talkimg about what we all know, but of the ones the general consensus have in your opinion overlooked." then you have people listing extremely well known and loved knives like SAKs(despite it being specifically named as an answer he was trying to avoid), the Tenacious, Ontario Rat, etc? Did people just see "inexpensive" and immediately start listing their favorite budget knives, without reading past that part?

Enlan el-04mct. Micarta scales, 8cr blade, great ergos, nice inexpensive knife. Can be had for $14 shipped.

Yes.

That's exactly what's happening. People do some pretty funny things like enter in giveaways long after the prize has been given away, recommend Sebenzas to everyone regardless of preference / budget, and all sorts of stupid things because they can't be bothered reading past the thread title. It just comes with the territory, I guess.

I was looking for an inexpensive knife to modify to serve as a cigar knife to cut off the ends, drill into them as needed, and hopefully have a utility blade. I wanted a knife that was cheap enough to purchase that I wouldn't be scared to grind on it. Never would I have thought to buy a Chinese Boker knife.

Then I found the Boker "Cattleman". It is now discontinued, but can be found with a bit of looking. No one I know has ever owned Boker Chinese, so I was the one to try it and report back to my pals. None of my group of buddies even know that Boker has a Chinese line! Of course, all of us here know they have knives made around the world, but that is a different subject.

The knife came, and it was better made and finished than many domestics are these days. The blade is stamped "440C", and it sure looks and feels like the 440C of old. The blades are crinked to beat the band, but they got a full size knife into that case even though it looks like they were hand crinked. The blades take an excellent edge, and the punch has held up well. The leather punch on this thing was awful when I got it so I didn't feel bad about grinding on it. After all, that's what I bought it for.

I never would have tried this knife had it not been really cheap. But I liked it so much I bought two more to set aside. I still haven't bought more Boker Chinese knives, but this one blew me away. It is easily as well made as any CASE out there and the steel in my opinion is vastly superior. I carry this knife all the time and it has replaced a couple of my other knives in the rotation.

Talk about surprised...

I once bought a knife from the Eden Quality brand, their model 106 and it performed great for the price. Easy to deploy and good cutting performance. Later I found out that it is the same knife as the currently well known Sanrenmu 710.

Another inexpensive knife that performed surprisingly well was a small Homeij sodbuster. There are my brands and types of sodbusters sold in hardware stores over here, but the one that Homeij sold was made in Solingen, had a very strong backspring, was build well, but not really sharp when I bought it. After a few months, I gave it to my father and he uses it a lot for garden work.

Kershaw leek $8.00 but I don't think the person know what they where doing. when I order over the phone they told me that price so I bought as many as my credit card could pay for.

+1 on the gerber obsidian. One of the smoothest knives. Button lock works great, and the most centered blade ive ever gotten. You got a better deal than me though. $35 at a sporting goods store.

For a while I was carrying the CRKT Drifter and loved it. The steel too a great edge and it was a good size for me at the time. Miscellaneous Victorinox Models as well.

Buck Ecco 3.0.

I bought a couple of these for gifts and for abuse because they were very cheap. I abused the heck out of one of them. ...prying, chopping, firework (dont ask)... I couldnt break it. Absolutely no blade play at all.

I dont know if they still make them. I dont think so. But, if you can get a few, I highly recomend these if you need a utility knife or something to abuse.
