Wich inexpensive knife (unknown) gave you good results?

I'm sure everyone hates Mtech but I'm poor and have to buy within my means so I gave this MT-086 a shot. This thing cost me $15. I used it for the first time a few weeks ago to chop some dead branches and tree limbs for a fire pit, the biggest being 4" in diameter and it had no problems. My nephew even used a stone to baton with, and I was like WTF. So after all that, the knife held up well and seemed to keep its edge.

I've got a Gerber gator folder. My dad gave it to mee, and it's handled everything I can throw at it. It's the older USA made version, so its better than the current Chinese made ones.

The best results I've ever got from an 'inexpensive knife' was an Opinel. I love Opinels ad the way they cut.

Got to agree - I keep a "Carbone" #6 in the kitchen and it has become my go to knife. All those super cheap serrated SS poly handled abominations stay in the rack.

For an edc - probably some the inexpensive Kershaws - Chill and OSOsweet come to mind. I don't carry them now but they were nice surprises.

I have one of the same in 154CM. A fine knife. Another sleeper is the Mercator 55.

I'm surprised at the performance my Cold Steel Roach Belly gives me at this low price point. It's just an awesome knife. Maybe not the best for cutting cheese, but for everything else I've needed to cut, it's been awesome, holding an edge nicely, resisting rust, and just being really handy and useful. Really easy to sharpen, too!

Inexpensive? Unknown? Good results? I got you covered.

Seriously, though... since when do Bucks, Gerbers, AG Russells, CRKTs Kershaws, SAKs, even Enlans, Ganzos, etc fall into the "unknown" category? Does the word have meaning anymore?

I picked up a Kershaw Select Fire for around $25 at a Sports Authority a few years ago. Wanted to take something to New York City with me and there was no way I was taking my Mini Commander. It served as a good back up blade for a while, especially with the driver set that was integrated in the handle. Could open one knife with the other. I have other knives now but I still use the screw driver. A buddy of mine picked one up a few months later on Black Friday for like $10. Great price yet I still don't think I over paid for it.
