Wife says get knife! Need suggestions!

This is one from a batch of MagnaCut with Grip-Tec™ scales, heading out to Empire Outfitters via Canada Post later today. I finished them Saturday night. It's got no name yet, other than that it is from my "EDC Universal 2" blank, which I had a half dozen cut in 1/8" MagnaCut, with a rectangularish blade shape that I can make into whatever shape is needed. I still have a few left unclaimed.

It would be a simple matter to make one with a blunt tip, lanyard hole, bright handle material and serrations. If interested D DBCajun , please shoot me an email introducing yourself, and I'd be happy to discuss making your all purpose porpoise protector.

I know you probably want something fancy, but seriously marakniv makes a serrated stainless floating knife that would be perfect. Blunt tip. Nice functional scabbards.
In my spearfishing club many of us carry a floating orange handle knife in the boats which is very cheap and it is meant for salt water use.

It is the "1446-FLOAT BAHCO". Blunt tip, fully serrated. Do not expect it to behave like Magnacut, though.

I wish they’d make this style in one of the steels like H2, magnacut, etc.

Wow. Nice work. I’ll certainly keep this option in mind.

Forget any folder, in this case you want an easily accessible fixed blade. Someone already mentioned the morakniv but I know that's not nearly sexy enough with the current carte blanche you have. I'm going to suggest the crkt bear claw or the walker knife company guardian river knife.
I like those river knives. Great suggestion.

Rick, how’s the edge on those floating Moras?

i don't know. Never had the need for one and I'm not much for serrated edges.... But morakniv is always on point with the edge as far as I've seen. If I need my knife to float here, there is a serious problem! Lol. I've seen the crick come up pretty high but not this high.

If you want a lifelong knife I agree with the others to go with a small time maker.

Moras are use hard and replace often kinda things. I love mine and use it as a winter salt bag knife. It was crusted with snowmelt for a couple months, rinsed it off occasionally and it still looks great.

I might get one just because at that price. Can’t go wrong.

Another vote for Mora. Mine arrived crazy sharp. I would stay with a sheath knife rather than a folder for your needs.

I bought a serrated orange mora to zip tie to the bow of my boat in case a line needs to be cut right now. Perfect for that purpose. Their sheaths are as good as their knives too - positive retention but still immediate access if you need to hurry. I wouldn't consider anything else other than a custom. And I'd have a mora to hold me over until the custom comes - and as a backup afterwards.
