Wife wants to do a bladesmith calender

I am going to shoot her holding two japanese hammers to her breasts caption at bottom saying.... "hammered by a bladesmith" hows that for a pic... LOL...
 
Dan and Sam, If you guys are going to talk sales, this will have to go to "The Exchange".
I would make the topic and replies "What do you guys think?", and, "I think it is a good idea".

The link in the sig line is OK, but not as the subject of the post. Just being the Mod here, Personally, I like the idea.
 
thanks to all for the reply about that there is an interest. We are working it now and hoping to have a look-see on my website later this week. all the feedback has been appreciated. We really appreciate the comments for the captions.... now we are shooting from the captions we chose and came up with.
 
Had several ask about her modeling with their knives............hummmmmm

do I want her to hold another man's blade???????? LOL
 
I think both the calendar and the posters is awesome! Beautiful wife! I'm sure many guys would want her on the wall in their shop/garage. :D :thumbup:

thanks diamond............... like the ideas of the posters............ some makers have asked me to use her for some of their own with their own knives...........

also thinking about doing advertisement within the calendar.....what do you think. what would be fair....
 
you could do something like a BF custom maker calendar, showing your wife holding a different makers knife for each month with a small subtle advertising blurb at the bottom of that particular calendar month. I think you could subsidize a percentage of the build cost with the "advertisements" just my 0.02...

I have other pics on my site.... I was told that those two were innappropriate in open forums.... and told it was also in pirates cove because it involved sales.... so... just go to my site to see them...........

I am getting confused
 
The only problem I have with the chosen picture is that the Little Giant is outdoors, exposed to the elements. Is that where you usually keep it? Or is this a staged shot? ;)

I'm sure that some folks will think I'm being a prude or a jerk here, but I'm going to say it anyway.

I think this is a really bad idea. It's nothing against your wife... it's the idea of it all. And like I said... I'm no prude. I love a naked or nearly naked lady just as much as the next guy, but there's plenty of internet porn out there with nameless people if that's what a guy really wants to see.

Many folks around here are new enough to not be here when Bruce Evans was--- but Bruce did the same kind of thing. Often posting similar pictures of his wife. Every once in awhile Bruce would ask if people thought negatively of it, and a dozen or so folks would always post, "NO!!! This is awesome!!!"

But every single show I went to in that time frame, it would get brought up amongst makers, "What the hell is that guy thinking?" Or something would come up about Bruce and people would say, "Oh the guy pimping out his wife with the amateur porn?" Now I'm not saying it was that bad--- but that was MANY knife makers' PERCEPTION of it.

I had several collectors tell me it just seemed really odd and that it turned them off about his work in general. I asked why they never said so in the threads, and often the response was something like, "I don't want to be "that" guy!.....he'll figure it out."

Of course at the end of the day it's your decision, but I think for the long term affect on your knife making presence--- it would be better to leave something like this alone. And even though I'm the only one to post something like this, I can tell you it's been brought up in two phone calls I've gotten recently--- and I was not the one to bring it up with either person.

Just something to think about. :)

I understand that some people may be offended or dislike the idea of the topless calendar. We view nudity in a different way, than most. I do remember Bruce and he is a hell of a guy. But those other makers and customers view this with prejudice then what does that say about them to me?

I for one have respected you and I respect your comments. My wife does have a fantasy of being "the calendar girl". and is getting a kick out of it. This calendar is primarily for her. She is a model with clothes on..... and has no quorems with her body. These pics are a tease, not perversion. I am an ordained minister, even though I dont preach anymore and did not fall from grace, though the military duty last 10 yrs changed me some, I have no problems with that we are doing.

If people dislike the calendar then they dont have to see it or buy it. But what I see that probably those same makers who are talking are probably the ones who is sharring very perversave pics on pirates cove.

We are not hippocrits, we are just honest with who we are. Do you think if we done a calendar as a swimsuit issue be better? I do not and will not PIMP out my wife for anyone or anything. Those who think so do not know me at all. and that is the thing.... get to know me before judging me.
