Wilderness Forum knife part 2?

After the thread on small fixed blades a while back, I see that a lot of us have a fondness for them. Plus I was thinking for a while now that a small knife would make a great companion to the NWA knife, or an excellent stand alone backpacking knife. So the gears have been turning lately. I was thinking something with a 2 1/2 - 3" blade, maybe 1/8" thickness, light and small yet sturdy.

This is just thinking out loud, I haven't talked to Nick (I don't know that he'd want to take another one of these on!) or any other makers yet about it. Just wanted to get some thoughts on it.

Like it. I'd be interested if Nick was willing to take it on. Wouldn't blame him if he didn't' however. Lots of work to be sure.

Were you thinking a caping type knife, or more of a general utility?

I was thinking more in the 1.5 to 2inch range. I would love something like the Bark river mikro canadian as far as the profile. 1/8 in thickness is probably right. I think it would be a perfect compliment to the 4 incher I have from him.

I'm sure whatever he comes up with I will be very interested in seeing. Something like this is what I have in mind.

Just my $.02,

Personally, I vote for Scott Gossman's PSK. that little knife is a BRUTE. Can't get any better.

Either way, i'd probably buy one...or two!!!:eek::eek::eek:

I'd be honered to do this again. But there is a slight issue. I have 45 guys still waiting on the first forum knife. These are all new orders. I have been finished with the first run for a couple of weeks now. If everyone is willing to wait I'm willing to make them. I fully understand if everyone wants to go with someone who can deliver them faster than myself. I really wish I could make them faster, but doing this part time, there is just no way possible to make them any quicker:o

So I'm in if you guys want me to be:thumbup:

Thanks
Nick:)

I'll wait for one by Nick!

I thought it would be the coolest for Nick to do it so it flowed with the other one. Plus he does such awesome work of course. But, with all the great knives, comes the growing waiting list! But it's not like we need it right this second, we can kick around some ideas and this can be a down the road kind of project.

I am willing to wait but really Nick, the fix is obvious. You need to quit your day job and start making these full time. ;)

Good for us. Maybe not so good for you.

Like I said. I am willing to wait.

i am in for sure...:D especially if nick is willing to do them, after he is all done with his original orders...

I am awaiting my PSK from Scott, brute it is from what I have seen and heard. I would not be opposed to a Mini Nicker though, Nick's stuff is top notch and I would definitely be in on it. So what say you Nick, what would it look like? 2.5" blade sounds about right to me:)

I'd be in for a Nicker also.

:)

p.s. you will LOVE the psk. Amazing little knife.

I have a Graham Stubby being made for me as we speak :)

I get to pick it up in person while I'm in TN and hit the trails with it!!! I'll report back.

I normally don't carry a fixed blade on a day hike.

I've got two of Scott's PSK and I highly recommend them.

That said, I'd love to see what Nick comes up with in a small fixed blade. Will this be like a Bird & Trout?

I like this idea, I missed out on the first NWA blade, but I will most likely not miss this chance.
Both the micro canadian and gossman psk came to my mind as well, it will be interesting to see where it goes.
I like the lines in this, it looks like it compliments the nwa blade, too.

But this is an amazing looking blade, too. I have forgotten the maker, anyone want to refresh my memory?

I don't own either blades, just trying to get the creative juices flowing here.

Liam, that top one does match the style of the original knife quite a bit. i like it.
