I'm one of the 45 guys waiting on the NWA knife right now. Sorry.
Chinpo
I'd probably be game for one- but my preference would be for a straighter, narrower , thinner blade with a sharper tip. When I carry multiples (like I probably would with 2 of Nick's) I like the blades to be different yet complimentary. The first knife had considerable belly and width, would anybody else be up for a Wharncliffe that could be worn around the neck (A Nicker Necker)? I think that would be my preference, but it is up to the masses (well.....I guess Nick could have a bit of a say...)
I think a run of Bark River PSK's in carbon with an etch on the blade would be awful cool too.
That would be cool too. Think Mike would go for something like that?
Good to see others like the Wharnie idea- I am lacking a good woodworking Wharnie. Would you guys want a green/black micarta option or something else. I would be in favor of a brighter color (red is my preference, but blue or orange would be OK with me), but would go with the majority.
So I'll start with a list of what I am looking for:
Wharncliffe Blade
2-3" length
Neck knife (kydex or tip down leather is OK)
Colored synthetic handle for durability (Red Micarta- visability, looks, unique)
4 finger handle without finger grooves or only 1 "choil" type finger groove (like Liam's top knife)
No guard!!!!
Oh yah- CHEAP is good (but I will pay for quality- just cheapskate tendencies coming through)
If Nick is still busy why not throw it out to other makers, if you could agree on a size how about just letting a select group of makers come up with their version and then vote on an official knife.
There are loads of great makers around, Dan Koster, Robert Dark, Scott Gossman, Justin from Ranger knives, raylaconico ,G L Drew , are just a few that spring to mind.
That's a good idea.
O1 steel huh? Never heard of it, I'll do a search later when I'm done studying.
