Wilderness Gathering in Texas

The first weekend in October has possibilities. September is way too hot for me.
Our gathering is the 3rd weekend of October, so I am not sure yet how busy we will be planning and such. That and Ghostwolf's Birthday falls about that time. But I will let you know by the deadline!

Yes it is the first weekend in October at Sam Houston National Forest. I was thinking the Double Lake area.
 
Count me as a maybe also please. Its been about 30 years since I was at Double Lake. It used to be very nice if memory serves. I haven't looked at this years hunting seasons guide if it is even out yet, but traditionally squirrel season and bow season for deer start the first part of October. So we might have some extra company in the campground and in the woods that first weekend in October.

These are all the people that I know of that have said yes or maybe. If the list is not correct please let me know. I was planning on everyone getting there Friday afternoon Friday night and then Saturday being the day we do everything and then leaving Sunday morning. If that is not okay with everyone please let me know and I will try to make it more pleasing for everyone. What does everyone like for food? I was thinking that everyone could bring their favorite campfire food and we could cook that and everyone could share that way we could have enough. I will try bring enough two litter drinks for everyone. I just need to know everybodies favorite drink. I talked to the reservations lady at Sam Houston and she said that 8 campers and two cars were allowed per site. Each sight is $25 dollars a night. I will pay this but ask that everyone gives a little bit of money to reimburse me. I also think it would be cool if we could get a gift that we could have a competition for. Maybe we could all chip in and get one of the knife makers on Bladeforums to make a knife with Texas Wilderness Gathering or something etched on the blade. If everyone agrees I will start a separate thread for that. Sorry for the long post.

Everything is still the same. Sam Houston National Forest, around Double Lake, the first weekend in October, does everyone agree on getting a custom knife? If so we need to start asking around. I don't know anything about the makers here so ya'll can pick that it really dosent matter to me.
 
Well, it looks like I'm out, folks. A prior commitment that never made it on my calendar has resurfaced. It is something for church -- so no good way to weasel out of it. :-) I'll be there in spirit though. Hope its fun.

Bob Lovett lives and makes fine knives around Killeen and i beleive is a member of this forum.
 
Ok guys it is getting real close. Is everybody still coming? I think we will have to nix the custom knife idea. I am probably going to be there by myself not plus one.
