So there you go guys, lets see what you've got

Out of curiosity, what are the applications each of those blades are used for when you're outside?

the kabar is used for while in knida thick bursh, the gerber is just general purpose, the mora isnt always on my belt, but thats a general purpose when i dont want to use serrations. and the wetterlings is for everything else.( the multitool is a just incase tool)

Don't fall in the water, you'll... well here is something you forgot...

:D

A good assembly, though it is a bit much to weigh yourself down with for treking. Thanks for the pics!

Codger

you'd be amazed, be'ing a some what larger person. its really not much, but wouldnt a sink be useful? I think

I need to see a pic of all that stuff on you, geared up and ready to go.

just a body shot, neck down.

okay, sorry.:o
Just wondering how you placed everything as my problem is packing the
stuff so that I can easily get to whatever I need.
Thought I might learn something from you.

sorry white, I figured you were ripping on me, my mistake. the waist pack I ware it wround my waist with the largest pocket in the back. the gerber on my right hip and the kabar on the left, and the axe i carry in my hand or on a larger pack.(The camra ran outa battries from the last set of pictures, i havn't replaced them in a while)

For me @ 160 LB and 5'11" it's more than I want to carry. However you are prepared (edge wise). I don't have a pic of all my gear, but here is my main choice of blades:

Thanks for sharing!

tarmix, whats you fixed blade?, I've seen your picture on the forum in another place. Was it home made? o'well, nice set of gear.

Tarmix - what is that holder you have for your matches and what type of matches do you have in there?

Jeeeezzzz, Fonly, you must be a strong guy!!!
I would hardly be able to walk with all of that stuff.

Do you really need all of those blades (not trying to take the piss here, it's an honest question)?

/ Karl

I think Fonly is like a lot of us, a knife nut! ;) My tool portion if I carry a day pack for walking around the woods is a GB mini hatchet, Opinel folder, folding saw (7") and any 4" fixed blade.

If I just carry a water bottle, pocket emergency kit to go light, I will carry an Opinel folding saw in my pocket also and any good 1/8" to 3/16" thick 4" fixed blade.

I would drop both gerbers and possibly the ka-bar, unless you think you might encounter a cougar or a bear. But in that case a stout walking staff would probably work better.
The best way to drop stuff is go on a good long hike and camp someplace, not in a tent, and see what you use. You will probably get some ideas for some other, hopefully small things.

Fonly, to be honest that picture is just ridiculous. What do you do, walk outside and stand in one spot staring at the view? Throw out about four fifths of that crap (including the axe and all knives but one) and then post a picture which is worth evaluating. Sorry to harp on you mate but you really asked for it here.

If I'm carrying that much gear, I'd exchange some of that stuff for the following (more useful) items:

A tarp for shelter
A blanket for warmth
A metal cup to make tea

I saunter around the woods to get away from most of my day to day things and to relax. I surely don't want to carry enough stuff to work for the local pulp mill. I carry a light physical load and light mental load into the outdoors. :)

My wilderness kit contains; Camelback, Nalgene bottle (in case I spring a leak in the Camelback bladder), BK-7 (or equivalent), SAK Hiker, folding saw, military poncho, fire starting equipment and a flask of something to sip around a campfire. Most anything else is obtainable in the field or it's not needed.
