Wilderness survival knife help!?

I have many of the knives suggested by others. The RAT RC6 and Fallkniven S1 would be good choices for a wilderness survival knife. Regarding Busse, don't forget about Swamprat and Scrapyard. The Ratmandu and Scrapper 5 are two excellent survival knives that show up on the exchange fairly regularily.

Also check out the custom fixed blades on this forum. JK knives, Laconico and Landi knives make excellent knives at very reasonable prices.

Well the Rats are coated with a really durable powder coating that prevents corrosion except for the edge. Really, if you use your knife then the use of the knife keeps the edge from any corrosion. You might get some discoloration on the edge but it isn't really anything to worry about. Just use the knife. Most people just agonize about corrosion and go to extremes to avoid it. Really it won't make much difference. Most damage, if any occurs when you store it wet and leave it that way for a long time. For example, you get back from your sweaty dirty camping trip and your gear is caked with wet mud. Then you leave your knife in its wet mud caked sheath in the garage for 4 mo until your next outing. Then you find a surprise. If you take care of your gear after you return you won't have any problem.

However, if you still agonize it then I would really suggest the Falkniven F1 or the Bark River Bravo-1 in 154 CPM SS. For the Falkniven, I suggest checking out the custom micarta handled ones sold by knivesshipfree. The handles are fitted onto the F1 by Bark River Knife and Tool and you get a great knife that way for about $230 or so. The SS Bravo-1 might be a little cheaper.
