Does Dave Beck have a site? Man I havnt seen any of his work in years!! Almost got one of the Trackers when he first started making them..that was an age or 2 ago!!

I have had to think about exactly how to post in this one a bit. Actually all of my knives are chosen for their respective abilities to function as "survival" knives. However for the purposes of this thread...size and features listed...I'd have to go with this one, the SOG SEAL Team. It has a 7 inch blade, and though it has no saw it has 2 inches of wicked serrations that have come in handy. It is the knife I keep in what I made and termed a modular "survival sheath" because it is the biggest, meanest knife i have that will fit in it..

I have a BK-7 and a BK-9 along with several heavy weight Machetes of varying length. However If I am afoot, I won't be packing anything bigger or heavier than the old Kabar marine knife.

It's old school, but considered by many as the original survival knife.

I could never see myself actually carrying any of these monsters, but I love seeing pics of them. What's wrong with me?

I like big blades. Some fine examples posted. This is the first version of my WST. One of my favorite pics.

11" Breeden Pathfinder is one of my "Survival" knifes. It fits perfectly in my spec ops survival sheath.

My other big survivalish knife is a 13" recurve by Stomper, called the RUSK Max. The blade is 8" long and 2" at the widest part of the blade.

I am a firm believer in the fact that the more a knife strays from looking like a knife, the less of a knife it is.

I will take the Bark River Hudson Bay, 8" blade, any and every day of the week if I need to meet the specific criteria. It is THE knife of knives IMO.

Other than an older machete in the garage, the Gerber BMF (on the bottom here) is old-school 10" blade.

That's a pretty good quote. I agree. "Less" really is more. The more "stuff" there is on a knife, the less effective it is overall.

Exactly. Old School, in the strictest sense would have been relying on a knife for your survival...LITERALLY. If the mountain men and pioneers needed a hollow handle for tinder and a fold up fishing pole, and a saw back to hack down trees with that really doesn't work too well without offset teeth, they would have had that. They carried a knife and a knife was a knife. :D
